The value of this content cannot be overstated, excellent content nicely delivered. I especially appreciate Chris staying onscreen rather than having slides up for much of the time.

Wow!! Loved this. Chris, I've paid for and watched numerous videos on creating portraits and have yet to find one that goes into the detail to capture the human side of the portrait. Connecting with people is something I know how to do in my regular life but never thought to apply it in a way to create authentic portraits. You've helped me better understand how simple it really can be. Thank You!!!!

In marketing/ sales terminology you can ask open or closed questions. 40 years ago i was trained to avoid closed questions which can be answered Yes/No. Open questions encourage a person to be expansive.

What a perfect way to describe that. Thanks for sharing. Mind if I use that next time I talk about the topic?

Maybe should be titled: “The Psychology of Portrait Photography”.

Really enjoyed listening to Chris. I feel like this is one of the most informative lectures I've seen in a lo g time, BUT I have to admit I almost gave a dislike because after investing 90 minutes, I learned the one section I was most excited about is being skipped and "is for another day". Ugh 😒
@chris-orwig3 жыл бұрын
Ya sorry Michael! Yeah thanks for reminding me. I’ll try to make another video for that section tomorrow. And the section you are looking forward to it was the one with building your portfolio?

@@chris-orwig Thank Chris! I know you are taking away from your busy day to make these videos so it is GREATLY appreciated! The section I was most eager to hear from you about was #4 "Get and Keep Clients". This is one of my greatest challenges as I try to build commercial clients.

I had to stop after first section. It was like reliving my college psych 101 again. Active listening blah blah blah.

Authentic portraits isn’t for everyone. But it is for me!

Step 1: Locate attractive people. Step 2: “Make” their portrait. Step 3: Reap the rewards of being a successful authentic photographer.

Actually I completely disagree. Good portraiture is not about being photogenic or attractive people. It’s about seeing past the surface. The majority of the people that I photograph tell me they aren’t photogenic.
