Was that the Hackensack polar bear ? Very rare in northern NJ ...lol Thanks for the videos you do. PS...I shoot with the Nikkor 80-400 f4.5 - 5.6 for wildlife and it seems to working out well. Now If I can only get the wildlife to cooperate so I can get better shots.

Very interesting that you took wildlife … always there is a starting point .. I think the good thing is composition and camera you are familiar with … all you need is patience for the wildlife to show up … I think that’s the biggest thing with being wild ..have a good day … enjoyed your videos
@JohnDrummondPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Not bad for a wildlife newbie! I especially liked the dark-eyed junco, one of my favorite migratory birds. One thing with bird photos: you want clear shots of the beak. The robin photo was well-exposed but its beak was blocked by the berries. OTOH the New Jersey Polar Bear is a rare sighting indeed! Prime vs zoom IMO comes down to image quality & speed vs portability and affordability. I like to handhold and walk when I'm birding, so it's zoom for me. For those who stake out a spot with lens on tripod (plus have more money to spend), primes are the way to go.

Just got a used 300PF f4 and really like it. So lite and compact with the Z6II. Have to get a TC14 also. And then I guess a Z7 too. 🙂

Lovely video Omar and you always manage to make me laugh so thank you 🙏 I agree it’s a big debate over prime vs zoom. It does help with a high megapixel camera to have the flexibility with a lens such as a 300 PF and I think it’s a great combo. However I also agree with the camp in the 100-400 or 200-500 zooms and having the flexibility when you’ve not got 45MPs to play with is a god send. I chose the 500PF because I’ve only got 24MPs and cropping is limited so went with the longer prime to save weight over 200-500. Always a trade off somewhere along the line 😂

I had 300pf/TC14 on Z50 last winter, but I sold them thinking about incoming 100-400s, which I didn't receive yet. I've got now z7II, and watching you with that lens, man it's so tempting, there is nothing to beat that combo in size/reach department. I'm having hard time, especially, that 100-400s will cost me almost twice as much money.
@matthewwells16062 жыл бұрын
You won't regret the 100-400. That's what I use with my Z7ii. Very nice lens.

I am considering to get a 85 prime for street photography and maybe for portraits. Is it a good idea to buy a 85mm 1.8D for a Z series body? No autofocus I know but half the price of the G one. I already have a 50G and 24-35 Sigma and in need of a little longer reach. Thanks.

I spent 55 years in the NY/NJ area - now retired in Cave Creek, AZ where temps are between low 40's - high 60's with a 70 degree day or two thrown in (most days now). I think you did a great job. When I first became interested in wildlife, I bought a bridge camera with a tremendous zoom and although detail wasn't terrific, it was good enough. Can you give me a rough idea of what are of NJ you took most of the shots? Keep up the good work!

Great video. Also check out Morten Hilmer’s channel for mega relaxing wildlife. I think, perhaps, that F mount lenses only stabilise in 3 axis as opposed to 5 axis with native Z lenses? Believe it’s the same with EF/RF.
