Capybara Wood Stove - first burn review...

Just installed today. Here are my thoughts on this tiny wood stove, branded Capybara.

Until you get some fire board installed, you can use aluminum foil. Just tape it fast to the wood and the foil expertly radiates the heat; thus, protecting the surface below it. I like your modification to the flue: air draw is everything. Installing a damper was another good way to maintain good heat. Don't know about you; but I live in the PA mountains...the stove is a wonderful source of heat, keeping the inside of my 14-foot camper at a steady 75 degrees while outside the wind was blowing, and the temp being a frosty 18. A tip I will share with you: flat pieces of wood burn nicely in the stove but try cutting up some dead 4-inch hardwood at 5 and 6-inch lengths. Put the pieces in only when you get some serious hot coals. FANS: kinetic fans work very well too. Try getting yourself a couple of clip-on fans and turn them on low. I use two fans, and I point one of them at the floor, because the floor is easily chilled by the wind blowing under your craft. I also layered the floor with carpet padding and two layers of shag carpet; works great at insulating.

What about clean up? Some stoves have an ashtray for easy clean-up. What is clean up like with the capybara?

It's pretty basic, you just scoop out with an ash shovel, no ash pan. It gets pretty messy honestly.

How long burn time with junk wood

Depends on the thickness and especially the species. 1x8 Redwood goes for like 30min, 2x maybe an hour, fully heated up, closed flue. Oak goes easily twice as long. I've had it fully loaded with oak 4x4 go all night to the morning.
