Easiest way to tell if AirPods are fake. Turn the torch on, on your phone and open the AirPod case. Shine the light from underneath the AirPod case lid and you should see a square looking silhouette. These are the computer chips in the AirPod case. There should be one chip each side. Fake AirPods will not have any chips in the lid of the case. Let me know the outcome mate!
