I bought a little rechargeable fan at Walmart. It’s on a bendy tripod base, so you can set it up many ways. I feel like having a little breeze helps so much when it’s hot. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!

You are a brave woman. I’d check the weather before going anywhere, it can make or break a trip. If you can’t get good sleep, it’s miserable. Learned that from experience.

Alot of people hate the cold. I hate the heat. The heat makes everything miserable. I feel your pain. Montana and Wyoming will likely become your two new favorite states. Safe travels, Sydnie. I admire your perserverance.

I make this suggestion often: Tiki torches with citronella oil absolutely repel several types of insects. I have used them for 20+ years. The torches, and the Citronella oil, are both available at Walmart (or similar stores) for a fair price, and worth trying. Plus they add ambience. Personally, I NEVER camp with out them, and I notice each time how my camp is minimal of insects. You will need to find a way to stake down the torches, or tie them to something, so they stay erect.

I heat lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus, and or citronella oils in a diffuser in my van. Bugs won’t come in.

Its probably someone else who run over that squirrel sydnie. Speaking of the heat, I was in phoenix and even hiked, that was no joke. Extremely hot like an oven but dry heat. I smelled some wild fires/smoke around Payson Az which is about an hr away from phoenix metro. The sky looked smokey.
@fredricjulien87385 ай бұрын
The heat, the mice, the bees. You've learned to deal with all three. Glad you didn't need to deal with any 🔥 wildfires. Sounds like you had a close call near the North Cascades. Stay hydrated in that heat (chugging water from the gallon jug) will help you tolerate the dryness. Stay alert for the bears 🐻 the bugs 🪲 and the mice. 🐭
@RicardoRoams5 ай бұрын
In some ways escaping the heat can be more challenging than dealing with the cold. At least with the cold you can bundle up. If you're headed toward Glacier National Park in Montana you will get some heat relief. And Glacier is one of the nation's most beautiful National Parks. But they do have Grizzly Bears so it's good you bought bear spray. Continued safe travels.

Cost CAA $3300 to fix my truck's wiring because of rodents in my parking lot. Honda sells tape that can be wrapped around cheaply made soy bean harnesses made in all vehicles last 10 years. Critter Ridder is the product i've used, mechanic told me to buy some hot chili peppers crush them up into bits add them to spray bottle, add water & spray it all over you wheel wells & plastic parts under your hood. Good luck with your camping.

I think soaking a t-shirt in creek water and wrap it around your head, you may have to do it often. Be alert for smoke in your area. you could check a ranger station too. Slept when you can , The sandwich is not a bad idea, a slice of tomato and little lettuce and it would really be awesome. I hope the rest of your trip goes better..

Spray it Stomp it Definitely making sure its done lol. Ive never heard of rodent spray I may have a use for that, gotta look it up. Cucumber sandwich thats different might have to try that too lol. The extreme heat affects everyone would it be on two legs (us) or four legs or wings. I wonder if the creatures were trying to find a cooler spot to be in. Hopefully you will be able to find a place that is cooler to stay at. Those heat domes\hi pressure ridges can get nasty. You are probably already at your new location but one area I would like to see is the beginning of the Missouri River. If I understand correctly, three rivers up in Montana merge to eventually create the Missouri.
