I'm basically doing the same thing, but without the basket, without cabinetry. But I do have a larger power station, solar panels, and a small electric cooler. I have an electric water kettle that can make a simple meal with electric power like cup o noodles or a freeze dried meal. I have an single burner induction stovetop for those times I want to actually fry something. I live in the Southwest and there is plenty of sunlight and less shade so I might as well capitalize on the solar energy. I was going to get two panels, but so far, in the summertime, one seems to be sustainable. I also have some backpacking sized gas burner equipment as a plan B. I too didn't really want a rooftop tent because of the expense, gas mileage, and the fact that I wouldn't get a chance to use it enough to make those downsides worthwhile. , and wanted to capitalize on the length of my Outback, so I have made a sleeping area on the drivers side behind the drivers seat. I have a much more narrow front to back than you do (I'm Jealous). The reason it is narrow is that I have my electric cooler mounted front to back in between the two rear seats.When I go into nightime mode, I move a few things from behind the drivers seat to the open cargo area, and I then have a nice long bed alongside it. I'd probably move the fridge to one side or the other to get more room in front, but I'm sort of preserving one back seat for my grandaughters child seat, and I keep that ready to use, although I often have the seat and area its in stacked with boxes of water and food. It's really not as cluttered as it sounds. In fact, I will probably remove that seat since it has not been getting any use despite my best efforts. I keep cargo space largely open, to haul cargo, or to hang out in. At night I move a few storage boxes into that open space so that I have a super long front to back bed on one side. My front seat and roof are unmodified. As far as actual mods, and not just camping equipment, I do have Motegi 17's and 29.5" Falkens Trail AT's. (and a full sized but somewhat deflated spare in the spare compartment. And I have a Wilderness Edition, so between the factory strut lift, and the new tires, I am riding over 10" even with my current loads. That's enough for my purposes. No aux lighting, yet, because I haven't really seen the need. I usually don't drive offroad at night, and I don't want my camp to be too bright. Looks cool tho. Keepin it simple like me. I am more in setting up mode than camping mode. I still need to get a few things for my first real overnight camping trip but I've been testing parts of the system at the beach and mountains for a few months. Planning on a trip soon. I also have skid pads, rescue rope, air compressor, etc. all nicely tucked away out of sight. It's a real sleeper. Databyter

Got a 2021 Trek Sport .. lifted and has all terrains on it .. had a roof rack exactly like yours .. do you know it's costing you 3 to 4 mpg? Mine did .. took it off and have everything inside the rig now. Back up to 30+ mpg. Born and raised in Eveleth, MN. 🤠

Great upgrades! Was going to ask you how you installed the lighting but it sounds like you have a video on that. I have some hood lights I’d like to install but haven’t figured out a good way to run the power switch inside without damaging the firewall.

This is a great setup. Lots of good ideas. Thanks for sharing. I love Chase Christopher's setup too, but I don't have a garage to store the back seats and all the build parts in. Love how you incorporated a slider for some food prep and cooking, but still plenty of room on the sleeping side. How wide is that cabinet? How are you securing it to the base?
