I can relate to that. Anything mobile and injector is a tough one for me probably for the same reasons as you. I did a transit recently - running fine but 2 intermittent injector faults. 1 injector came out easy. The other I couldn’t get out. Sent him to an injector specialist - that injector snapped on the way out and they had to use the full on injector tube removal screw kit on it! Was a nightmare so I’m glad I stopped before I snapped it off! Well done for getting the X5 sorted! Nice when they work out like that! 👍🏼

Just do the basic servicing on our 2 cars , but every year strip and clean the brakes . It's a chore but just feel it has to be done . Nice to see a professional doing the same .

Great job ! BMWs are specific. THis one has also fuel line bleeding function by Diagnostic tool. You can use it next time . Also this one is M57 engine and this one does not a problem with HP fuel pump.

Another tip I used to use was put some grease or even barrier cream if you use it into the socket then place the nut/bolt inside and it won't drop out. Same principle with a ring spanner.

Ive seen and dealt with the injector fault on a 6 cylinder bmw before , exactly the same symptoms and also number 6 that had failed , apparently its usually number 6 as its right at the back and water drips from the scuttle , probably explains the rust

My regular main dealer lost my respect a couple months ago for lying about a service too.oil supposedly only 2000 miles old but black as tar when I pulled it as i never got a proper invoice and a suspicious conversation. Is main dealer history worth it when you get engine failure thanks to their fibs?! Great vids. Back to doing car and bike myself.

Generally speaking oil can go quite dark almost straight away on either high mileage or diesel cars, I don’t rate main dealers one bit unfortunately

have an x5 myelf so had a very keen interest in this one 'just in case', but to be honest as much as i knew the injectors had to be coded, i had no idea if incorrect it would cause the car to be effectivly a non runner..thanks for the info fella @@kerbsidemobilemechanic

SMA with Eric O , he has some interesting fuel injector testing using a scope. It's amazing what can be diagnosed without removing components. The scope is a bit pricy though.

The injector code must always match the cylinder position that they are fitted in the engine. That is why the car was cutting out.

Main dealers are cowboys in my experience, I always take a full service history with a pinch of salt as I've seen a Renault Clio that had a supposedly full main dealer history, the oil and fuel filter had never been changed in over 40k since it was new. Plus many now suck the oil out through the dipstick tube to save time removing plastic undertrays etc.
