the Mazda 3 just simply fucks hard, so hard that the first time I looked at one up close I sent my 2012 sonata into a ditch and ordered a 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo Hatch from the factory

I love them so much. I went with a 2021 Civic Sport Touring just because I heard the turbos are more reliable, and I’ve always loved that generation of Civic. But I was so so close to buying the Mazda 3

real. my dad adores them, only when he sees them though. he absolutely loves the design, and the fact that it had a low roofline and a wide body (not widebody), made him love it even more. heck, even i think it's one of the best looking hatches out there. also my dad loves eg civics, they're just low, and wide. STOCK. he doesn't talk about that thing anymore (both the eg and the 3), or have i just not been around him enough. either way i love how that thing looks. just waiting until they make a sporty version and try competing in the hot hatch market

@viceonafridaynight Not to worry ya but... those 1.5 turbos do suffer from head gasket failures... And oil dilution if you live in a cold climate + rodent activity chewing wires in the engine bay is you again live in a cold climate Otherwise, it's really a beautiful and very practical car (the Mazda 3 looks nice, but really sucks at practicality in terms of space and fuel economy and price)

@viceonafridaynight yup, and has way more legroom and cargo space, cheaper insurance, cheaper tires, cheaper price tag, less maintenance (no rear differential). I use a car as a form of transportation, not my bedroom/living room. I was gonna get the civic 2022, 11th gen (it looks fabulous), but avoided trading my Fit/Jazz for it because of the headgasket, as I'm planning to keep my car until it totals out and not changing it every 5 years.

Mazda proved that it's not that hard to put gorgeous designs on cars. They took traditional car design principles and took inspiration from Italian car designs, then implemented it on its models. Toyota used to outsource its designs from Italian design companies, for example, the first Lexus GS was so ahead with its design. Second GS looked weird. 👀👄👀

Without looking it up, I think Audi started the big grill trend with the introduction of the Single Frame Grill in, 2004 or so? And then made them bigger in every new version, because going back is seemingly not an option and all the others also made theirs bigger too :D

Have a Mazda 3 2021 with a manual that thing gets me going everytime I look at it. Driving it feels so engaging it’s perfection on the road for me. When they do eventually redesign it I hope the new design is on par with this one. And I pray to whatever god will listen to keep the goddamn manual

same here, I def think this car is still very loved / appreciated by many but still also VERY underrated just on design alone / it doesn't get a lot of attention in the overall car community / people forget about it or don't mention it much. It's such a cohesive good design that I feel is going to age REALLY well, and with low production numbers compared to other car brands and even lower numbers for the manual trans it has gotta be a tad rare / sought after down the line. It really is such a smooth and fun transmission. I've owned this car a bit over a year now and I'm more obsessed with it than my 1990 Miata 😅 (my Miata needs some work / love too though).

I hate how car manufacturers seem to have only one front end design nowadays. Like Acuras look like the same exact car basically. I can barely tell an Integra out from a regular Acura sedan. GMC Truck was around long, long before Cadillac Truck was. The difference between GMC Truck and Chevrolet is that GMC is more upscale. GM had for years been trying to separate the two divisions as far as amenities are concerned. Chevrolet is an entry level Division just like Plymouth was the entry level Division for Chrysler, however when Chrysler filed for bankruptcy the 2nd time; they once again re-structured and got rid of their entry level Plymouth Division and with it, the Plymouth Truck subdivision.

I have a '21 Toyota Avalon Hybrid and I took off the front plate and the grille looks like a damn void that stretches the whole car 😭 I absolutely love the design of the car as a whole, I think its incredibly unique and sleek but the grille is just so extra lol
