Thank you so much for posting this video!! This was exactly the problem with mine. I bought an older lift from a shop that was going out of business. After getting it all installed and set up, (after sitting out in my field for 3 yrs!!) it raised up , but wouldn't come down...even with putting max pressure on ea side w my mini ex. So, i released the lower line valve that you described and IT WORKED!! Thank you again for posting this video. It helped me out a ton!!

I had bought a lift about 9 months ago brand new i use it every day as I have a small shop I run and this is my only lift. I was working on a car today and went to drop the car to the ground and the lift went down a very little bit and stopped I called the manufacturer and was on the phone for 3 hr or more with no help what am I to do I have a customer's car stuck in the air I started watching you tube videos and then came across this channel I saw a phone number and called it this guy talked me throw what was wrong in mins wish I would have started with this thank you very much for making these videos keep doing it

how would you get a 4 post lift to lower if you had a motor failure or the pump itself. it seems you might need some type of hand pump? so is there a way to do that if it ever happened? i figure it it blew a hose then installing another hose will fix that. thanks

Wish you were closer to me. You really know your stuff! I bought a used scissor lift, kind of like the Harbour Freight style car lift. 2 times now, when I lift a vehicle up, it will not come down. We had to get 3 guys and everyone lace as much weight on it and rock it back and fourth until it finely started to come back down. Once I put it up in the air to clean under it and same thing. 2 of us stating jumping on it while my son operated the down lever, then it finalizing started to come down. So frustrating. I'm scared to use it now! Could that also be the restrictor valve, like the one on the 2 post lift in this video?

Hi just getting ready to put an older weaver afh90 lift into service in my home shop and realizing that the lift locks while working do not clank on the way up like i have seen in some videos. I am guessing it is a setup issue but am also not sure if I am missing some spring or something that should be forcing the lift lock to pivot fully into the ladder when the release is not activated. Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated by my wife who may not have to peel me off the floor if I don't get this right. Thanks

great video. i have a 4 post lift that seems to have lost some of its liftig ability. iIt will lift my 4000lb jeep but not my 5500lb truck. it has a fenner pump driven by a 3/4 hp 110 volt motor. i am trying to determine if it is the pump or piston. No unusual noises lifting the jeep. tx be safe mike

if the hoist is clean and your slide blocks are healthy spray some fluid film inside the posts. wiper seals can also cause issues i would spray the shaft as well while its up and let it work its way in. having ur cables properly adjusted helps a ton. I would get a service tech like myself to run through it. pulleys especially the lower ones tend to suck. but ur 12k has metal pulleys so probably not to big of an issues i would clean and lube them and make sure the bushings havent spun.

@kevinhorn9465 your dump valve is dirty. While the hoist is on the ground take it off clean it put it back. Once that's done, hold the dump valve wide open and run the system for 10 seconds.

I have the same brand, and my problem is that the pump is whining under a load. We installed it and tested it with 2x. 200lb dudes, but a car got on it and got the shocks off the tires but whines without lifting it up any further

I removed the line into the top of the ram and the restritor value and the ram hardly coming down. Could the ram be damaged internally?

What if you push the button, the motor kicks on, and it just spits fluid back into the Reservoir tank? Pump seal?

@StreetRacingLifeStyle dump valve is dirty so it's stuck open ( broken) Or you have an adjuster ( pressure regulator) on the side. Like spring and ball valve that could be fucked or put of adjustment. If it's a new Install, the motor is most likely turning the wrong way, haha

Had a worn nylon (or delrin) bearing block, slipped and wedged inside the post. Won't go up or down.

I just put my truck on my new forward lift . When I tried it out worked great until my truck went up the one side is going down a lot faster ther the main one , enough for me to stop till I can find some answers
