Your portrayal of the way things are these days is, regrettably, spot on. The old saying of nothing works anymore. All big organizations are avaricious, lazy and expect you to do all the donkey work just so as they can extract your cash. Not one ounce of proactiveness with any of them. A classic case of "the answer is no, now what's the question". Bring back dealing with your local insurance broker, doing a deal face to face then walking out with a cover note there and then...job done.

My dad is 90 & has driven for 40 years without an accident or claim. The young & elderly are not wanted on the roads & they doubled his renewal to £1500!

Hope that was an old phone Al!! Couldn't agree more, the whole insurnce thing is a rip off - very quick at taking your money but just try and claim and they'll make you jump through hoops. If you're selling your house, both your solicitor and estate agent will want photographic ID and utilty bill, presumably to make sure I'm not a money launderer!!

We had exactly the same today Al! We did the same too . . . it's a disgrace. There is no incentive for loyalty! We ended up going with another company in the end as a matter of principal. The company we were with wanted £100 more this year than last and we never had a claim ever. Also, they have put the excess up to around £450! As ever TFS and have a good week. 👍 ❤ PS I hope you didn't get into too much trouble with Jan about her phone 😂😂😂

Cancelling car insurance is as easy as it gets. Firstly just don't enable the OPTIONAL autorenewal and then it will lapse automatically. If you did AGREE to enable the OPTIONAL autorenewal, just call up to cancel it or even do it online (Admiral and Tesco both allow this plus others). Most companies offer call-back options or are quiet during non-peak hours. NOT EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY.

Thanks, it seems you are stuck on the everything is a conspiracy routine. The optional dont renew tick box on car insurance is ticked not to, but gets auto renewed anyway, whether you ticked the box or not.

Most people will find that by the time their renewal comes up their insurance will have doubled. And when you ask them why you get the generic answer saying it because of the increase in parts and other costs for them. Which I think is total scam. The insurance in general has risen loads since a few years back. I had to change from my current provider to a cheaper one (that was not much cheaper). They seem to like customers to keep switching as being a loyal customer means nothing to them, no matter how many years no clams you have, which be I believe you NCD tops out at about 9 years if I remember correctly.

Remember years ago you could get phone ins and if anything happened your phone youd get a nice new one from them..... my friend tried saying he left his on the bus and they hounded the bus company for cctv which told them to fook off 😂 no new phone for him. Nobody bothers with phone ins now.

My bike insurance renewal has just arrived and it is £2 less than last year :O. Majority of companies are just out to make as much money as possible, I think things that are compulsory (like car insurance) should have a government run organisation that runs at say cost + 10%. Also before the pandemic, customer service was much better, I am sure the same number of employees are in customer services so why is service so poor?

Dream on, it's the same here in Ireland, a monopoly and regulators drawn up from the ranks of insurance companies who know what side their bread is buttered on. There's no fairness and it will get worse as new rules mean in future years unless you have the latest cars with lane avoidance, speed limiters etc you won't get cover at all.....
