I remember "connection" back when I was a freshman in highschool, and forgot about until I heard Dave Grohl cover it. I'm shocked because there is some legit "hits" on this albums but MTV in America only played connection....and it got old quick.

I was in my mid 20s when all this stuff came out. Coming from the school of 80's UK bands, l dismissed some 90's bands. Looking back, Elastica shouldn't have been one of them. Good stuff.

Shut the fuck up Toby Jackman, you obviously don't know a single thing about Blur, or music, but here you are running your mouth like a little bitch. 1. Harmonically, this is very similar to the kind of structures that Blur liked to use. A song that springs to mind would be Mr Robinson's Quango, among others. From the perspective of counterpoint, the overlapping vocal lines in the chorus are a staple of Blur era britpop. Think Country House. 2. Tonally, this is spot on for Blur. The guitar and bass both have an extremely similar tone to what blur was using in the 90s. The fuzzy bass tone and the heavily distorted high-end guitar could be replaced basically one-for-one with a Blur track, and no one would even notice. 3. The singer, although she sings in a different register than Damon, actually has a very similar, and distinctive style of singing. She even seems to have a similar lyrical style. Not that I would expect some random idiot on KZbin to be able to pick up on something that subtle. Lastly... and I think this is the funniest part that just proves how woefully ignorant you really are. The lead singer of Elastica was in a relationship with Damon Albarn during the recording/writing of this album, and Elastica was clearly very influenced by their close relationship with Blur during that SEVEN YEAR PERIOD. Both bands are from the 90s, London britpop scene, and they even had a close relationship with one another. To deny that they were influenced by Blur would just be idiotic.

Atlec is quite right, and even if Elastica is similar to Blur and stole a lot from Wire, it's still a very cool band, it doesn't need stupid and blind fanboys like that.
