Caran d'Ache FIBRALO Brush Pen REVIEW & DEMO

Hello and welcome to another review video!
After my Faber Castell Pitt pen review, I really wanted to try out and explore more water based pens. I saw these Fibralo pens by Caran d'Ache, and given that the brand has a quality reputation, I knew I had to try them!
In this review I'll be having a close and scrutinising look at the packaging and information as well as the product inside, then afterwards I'll swatch the set out and end with a speed-paint demonstration of these pens to show some of the techniques and effects they can achieve.

I think you hit the nail on the head that this product was aimed at the younger budding artist and in that respect I think they fit the bill perfectly. I have seen a video presented by Caran d'Ache inferring that the choice of colouring agent was to enable accidental clothing stains to be easily washed out.

Another lovely drawing/painting Claudia. I find Caran d'Ache products here in Australia quite expensive and out of my price range usually. Faber Castell are more reasonable. I haven't personally tried brush pens but I really liked the application of them. Thanks Marion

Marion Wigzell Understandable! Caran d'Ache often comes with a hefty price tag, I can imagine with import tax and expenses the prices would be a little extortionate! These pens were nice but I'm sure there are similar products out there- I wouldn't break the bank just to buy these. I've been trying out the Sakura Koi colouring brush pens too which I plan to review in the next couple of months. I've found them to be fairly equal products in application, and I suppose they might work out cheaper as they're possibly made in or around Japan, rather than Switzerland?

I do still see the pen marks when im going over with a waterbrush....they mix with the fibralo pens, but i see the pens marks still...im using 300 gsm aquarable paper...

About the lightfastness part, The lightfastness will likely vary based on amount of water added, similar to Derwent's Inktense and Graphitint

Snorlax Very true! Although at least the Inktense and Graphitint actually have LF ratings so at least there is some security about how long they'll last. These are an absolute gamble.

These Fibralo pens, are amazing and your Perrot is Fabulous Claudia, the way you've colored with these gave me the umph! to buy these and i'm so please you'll be making more reviews on that kind of Pens YEAH! Yes Claudia, they are waterbased and so many colorist are Fellin love with these Pens and she have Mermaid colors pens whitch is absolutely Gorgeous colors,anyway thank you Claudia!

I can contribute information on their "long life". Digging around my art supplies the other day, I came across a box of Fibralos from my school days. I was getting ready to toss them but decided to take a look at them in case I wanted to buy them again. To my utter astonishment, they still work, 50 years later. That's 50. I may have been 12 or 13 when my aunt gave them to me, and I'm in my 60s now.

zImRiseJoy Remulta I've always enjoyed drawing and painting but it was only at the start of 2016 when I decided that I'd try and take it to the next level. You saw my "1 year or art improvement" video- that shows where I started and how much practice I did in that year. I suppose is been almost a year since I filmed that video though- I haven't done as many drawings in 2017 as I did in 2016, but I still put in as much dedicated practice as I could. That's the important thing :)

music I'm incredibly surprised you found my secret message. I thought it was incredibly well hidden ;) I think you could refill these with something like PH Martins, using a pipette and slowly dropping the liquid watercolour onto the nib and letting it soak down into the core. You can pull the nibs out but because they are pretty thin I'd be cautious. Like refilling any pen, make sure that the ink isn't shellac based or else it'll dry and clog up the nib.
