I also loved how when we were shown that Okarun was making himself decide that it is best he doesn't try to get in between Jiji and Momo. And just when he is walking away, this running man comes in screaming, "I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!". That subconsciously is telling Okarun to not stop trying to be more friendly with Momo.

What you meant about the author "making up things" was during his time where he was having a writers block. His editor Shihei Lin told him to just draw stuff until 1 day he got struck with the idea about occults and aliens, and the funny thing too is that he can go balls off the walls with the writing since both the editor abd the magazine publishing his work are known for not having too much restrictions. Also most of his ideas definitely was inherited from during his time of being fujimoto's(csm mangaka) Assistant on the serialization of Fire Punch.

I feel like the genius thing about this episode is that at first you're thinking this mannequin guy is just a freak yelling about not giving up running, but at the end you found out he runs so desperately to not giving up his love. And you look back to when it first yelled those words near okarun and it has a different meaning to it.

Fun fact: Jiji has the same va as Kageyama from Haikyuu. Almost the same character, I know, he should try some range for once Jiji isn't Momo's ex, he is her childhood crush (shown in ep 1) Momo only had one boyfriend, the one she kicked at the very beggining of the anime 12:17 I actually loooooved Jiji at this moment in the manga. He doesn't know Momo has powers, bearly (doesn't) understands the spiritual stuff, can't register what's happening but protected Momo with 0 hesitation or powers 16:40 This is *the* moment Ken realises he has feelings for Momo, that's why the speech hit so hard for him, it resonated and made him understand what he was feeling. I feel that's why they went sooo hard on that moment in the anime, with the light and music
