Today I installed some rockford Fosgate 6" speakers in the back of this 1982 Ford Capri and it is set and ready for some 4x6's in the front.
We also put a security system and central locking in.

Interesting idea with those speaker metal stabilisers in the front doors. Just wondering how much of a difference this makes to the sound quality of a speaker as distinct from just screwing it to the door card or is it just less vibration/movement?

It can if done right make a significant difference to bass output because the speakers aren’t secured to something so flexible. In this case I don’t think there will be much because they are 6x4s, so it’s more for the knowledge that the speakers are secure in the door and not loose. And it’s just the standard of install I hold myself to.

good modification to fit a 6in, why not just make set of speaker spacer? you can even ebay some universal speaker spacer.

I'm not sure that using an electric file and having sparks flying around right next to the petrol filler pipe/vent is a great idea.

What a strange place to have speakers installed on the boot in the back. No, Ford wouldn't have installed speakers right on the boot when that car was being built. A previous owner of the car was so stupid to do such speaker installment like that. They should never have done that to the begin with.
