Caravan Chit Chat - I give Silky Cleaner a try

I decide to move away from my normal Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner and buy myself a tub of Silky, how does it compare to Fenwicks? will the switch be a permanent one? Watch me do a fantastically brilliant demo and find the answer (its not brilliant, but I do give you my answer haha)

I used silky for the first time yesterday applied with a cheapo 2 inch paint brush on areas (joining strips, awning rails, nooks, crannies etc.) with algae and road dirt buildup (first time I cleaned the roof in 2 years) The rest of the van (flat areas) I use Fenwicks, and a telescopic caravan brush. Rinse off and it looks like new again. The only spots that were really hard to reach were around the roof light edges and under the solar panel (long reach paint brush should sort that out). the combination of silky and fenwicks works for me.

Used this this weekend, used it with a machine polisher, watered it as I went, then went over with the silky pink polish by hand , van looks great now. Wouldn't do it all by hand.

Enjoyed your video Aaron. Now I certsinly wont waste my time with Silky. I normally use Autoglym but have used Fenwicks shampoo in the past. Will have to look at ot when my current batch is used.

Found that really interesting, I just use a car shampoo and a brush, I'd be interested to try this fenwicks cleaner, especially something that's called a Bobby dazzler!! Any chance of a quick video of you using the fenwicks 😁 Cheers Jon

Hi I have looked at Silky but was put off as it seemed like a dry cleaner. I use Fenwicks and love it. I tried another product but it was no where near as good as Fenwicks. I am going to get the Bobby Dazzler at Weekend. Thanks for sharing P&J 👍

Hi Aaron I agree silky isn't that good I only use it on really bad marks it a bit like cream cleaner what u use in the house really.im the same as u I use fenwick caravan cleaner a d bobby dazzler fab stuff I also use fenwick over winter riser which u mix up with water and put it in a pump sprayer and spray it all over van it protect the van over winter so when u com to wash van after it cleans really easy good stuff cheers .kev

A damp sponge is the best to apply it with. Cut one sponge up into three pieces.

Not that impressed with Silky to be fair always found that it couldn't cope with really ingrained black marks . Now use Muc-off which is easy to use just spray a panel at a time leave for a minute or two the brush or sponge the liquid then rinse no more black streaks even the ingrained ones are gone and it smells good to. nice vlog not sure your hand pumping is up to much(oh r misses).

But Aaron fenwicks will no way get those black steaks off the back of your van the way silky did I’ve tried fenwicks and like a lot off the reviews it’s no good for black streaks what do you think of that mellerud black streak remover

Hey Andrew, I’ve always found Fenwicks gets rid of the black streaks no problem at all, I washed our caravan with it a couple of weeks ago and it was filthy with loads of black streaks. I’d highly recommend Autoglym Super Resin Polish too. I’ve not tried the mellerud stuff to be fair mate

Good demo Aaron. BTW your opinion can't be wrong, it's you opinion. Last time I cleaned mine with Prima's waterless wash, and I did like it. But I prefer to wash to and give it a going over with Auto Glym's Super Resin polish. Hard work and pricey, but it's a finish I like, much like you and Fenwicks. Good to try other products and when they're that price, worth a go! Graham

Try "Greased Lightning" waterless Cleaner and Protective ..Wipe on let it Haze , Wipe off with micro Fibre ..Im a Apprentice Trained Vehicle Refinsher and was Doubtfull at 1st , tried it on a old Car Panel id left out side then tried it, never used anything else since , use it in UPVC Doors Windows, Kitchen Whites , Glass is Fantastic , says dont use on Fr Screen but its Fine , esp when it Rains Beads off Straight away Can do a Complete Car inc Wheels , Window Trims everything in under a Hr
