Hi phill looks a well made product. But as you demonstrated easy to fit and easy to remove with a Allen key not the best idea. Just another theft slow down device. Suppose every little bit helps. Thank for sharing
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. Yes you are quite correct it another form of device/lock to slow the thieves. I have checked on line and most of the devices like this are grub screw retained. Thanks for watching Phil🙂

Hi Paul, Do you know that when the main body is fitted , then you can't undo the Allen screws, and what did as well was to drill a small hole where the Allen screw goes, so when you tighten the screw, it then goes into this drilled hole about 1/8 deep, so it then can't even be pulled off,

thanks Phil for sharing the review. I've just purchased a hitchlock and wheel lock by purpleline and been really impressed although i didn't see their leg lock in the accessory shop, so bought another make that doesn't look as good as this one. Will have to look at the website. Thanks again, I do find these videos really useful and informative.

Thanks again mark. I am glad my videos are useful. As I said in my crime prevention video the more locks you have the more likely you are to put off a thief. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Thanks Phil for another great video. Where did you get your blue kneeling mat from? Looks a great idea to keep you clean 👍🏼
@lostweekendscaravan4 ай бұрын
Hi I have to admit I had to watch the video back to remind myself. The mat is the removable section of a boot liner. Here is a link to the video. PS the Doggy is my brothers not mine. Thanks Phil. 👍🙂 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnXUaJelpaqfeqs

Great review Phil, we've been looking at the corner steady locks but the ones we've seen look a bit flimsy, but this one looks very well made and a great price too, we'll be investing in the couple of these thanks for sharing. Best wishes Jon and Karen

Hi Jon & Karen. Thanks for watching this video has had mixed opinions but as I said to Colin it's all about creating barriers to stop them stealing your caravan. Thanks again Phil🙂👍

This item is best fitted on a rear leg, this will help prevent the trailer being lifted onto a tow ball..

Hi Dave. Yes you are so right also it is more difficult for them to remove. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Phil 👍🙂

Nice review Phil you can’t have too much security. I use two ( different make) on rear of the van with the van nose down. Love my Sunday morning caravan fix, thank you for your time and effort.

Hi Colin well this review has had a mixed opinion. I do feel it more about creating barriers for any would be thief. Thanks for watching Phil🙂

Great product , have been looking for a while , however disappointed they don’t come in pairs, single is good but I think you would need 2 at least 1 would slow but 2 would really slow any thief down Thanks Gavin
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gav. Yes it would make sense if they were sold in pairs but I was only sent one for review. Thanks Phil👍🙂

I've got one of these a good crack with a hammer on each side would take the grub screws out and destroy the fairing it goes through could be stronger.

Hi Paul. I did this video quite a while ago. Yes they can be removed reasonably easy but as I have always said the more locks and counter measures the less likely they will try to steal your van. Thanks Phil.👍🙂

does the orange barrel cover up the grub screws?
@lostweekendscaravan2 жыл бұрын
Hello yes the whole barrel is sleeved when locked. The sleeve spins preventing the leg from being wound up. I would say it’s a extra bit of kit for someone to defeat costing them more time. Thanks Phil
@HitchUpAndTow5 жыл бұрын
Looks a nice bit of kit at good price. Do you need to tighten the grub screws and if so, how often? Thanks Mark
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. Thats a good question. I would check the Grub Screws every time I I checked the wheel nuts. i'd make it part of my pre towing routine. Thank for watching. Phil👍

Nice review Phil. I see a couple of comments disliking this product. I guess it is just another device that will deter and slow a determined thief down. Better with them than without I guess. Ian...

How easy is it to remove? Do you have to undo the grub screws each time or are they permanent? Thanks
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Hi P&B The inner sleeve with the grub screws remain. You just removed the Orange outer Sleeve and insert the dye which you can then turn to lift or lower the steady. Hope this helps. Phil🙂👍

So whats to stop , someone with mole grips turning this and undoing the grub screws
@lostweekendscaravan2 жыл бұрын
Hello Mark. In answer to your question "Nothing at all". However this would take time. In my previous video on Caravan Security kzbin.info/www/bejne/e57QfYCqmtKYpKM It's about creating as many barriers as you can. The more locks the less likely they will have a go and probably steal someone else's with fewer or no locks. i hope this helps Phil🙂👍
@retro4235 жыл бұрын
Very poor product with a couple of grub screws holding it on, it would only take a second to hammer it off
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Have you had one of these like Lee has. I would like your honest opinion of the lock. So far it has worked ok on my van. Time will tell. Thanks Phil🙂
@retro4235 жыл бұрын
With respect Phil the only reason it has worked for you is because no-one has tried to remove it, these locks are useless anyway because they are so easy to get off without the key but you don't have to remove it to wind the legs up, a pair of mole grips on the screw will do it in seconds. Hitch locks are another useless device, they don't even try to remove them, they just ratchet strap the hitch to the tow ball
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
I am not trying to say these are the be all and end all. No matter what you use if they want they will take it. My idea is to make it as difficult as possible. I have 4 locks on my van whilst in storage and I hope that helps me keep it where it is. Thanks Phil 🙂
@leemarson32875 жыл бұрын
Good video Phil but this is a really poor product which can be removed very easily. The fact it only has 2 tiny grub screws holding the receptor in place. They hardly bite into the steady bolt means in can be removed by standing on the locking sleeve. In addition to that when traveling the grub screws come loose allowing the casing to fall off. A real waste of money in my opinion.
@lostweekendscaravan5 жыл бұрын
Hi lee Thank you for your comment. I always like to hear both sides of a product. I will be looking out for the grub screws coming loose. What do you use now. Thanks Phil
@colinrimmer7895 жыл бұрын
I’ve had similar product on rear steadies of my van for 10yrs grub screws haven’t come loose yet. I know the product isn’t the greatest theft deterrent in the world but it’s something else that needs to be defeated. It’s a lot harder than winding up a steady.
@leemarson32875 жыл бұрын
lost weekends caravan hi Phil, I don’t use anything other than the Alko wheel lock, Alko hitch lock. Alarm with alarmed steadies. I Also have a wheel clamp I use for winter storage as well as high security bollards over the end of the drive. I have cctv as well.
@CarrsCaravan5 жыл бұрын
It looks another great idea to slow down those that would take your pride and joy. I don’t imagine anything is infallible. If someone wants something bad enough, they find a way. It’s a clear visual deterrent for a chancer rather than someone that comes prepared. I can’t comment on it’s effectiveness as I don’t have one or experience of one, the only thing I can see as another potential problem is for caravans who’s steadies are a long way back as it would take crawling under the van slightly to find the grub screws. Thanks for sharing though as anything that may be able to help reduce caravan theft is of interest.
