I don't think they'd understand it, or know what to listen for. Remember when they were about what they created was the pinnacle of 'hip'. They're ear just wouldn't be accustomed to playing outside of harmony, rhythmic complexity, the fact that this is a just a reimagined take on a simple jazz standard, and all of it happening at a completely mad crazy pace.

Taylor Eigsti has always completely owned the piano - all the harmonies, combined with monster technique. Drummer and bass are killer players in their own right, great support and musicianship.

You must not be aware of how reputable Harish Raghavan and Eric Harland are... They're sitting at the top of the chain for their instruments too.

The virtuosity here, is in service of the music, not the other way around. That's what makes this great.

Total monster players - amazing intro and great arrangement. He played some dense, at times hyper kinetic stuff `a la Rubalcaba, but more Jazz/changes oriented and ultimately his own.

TRUE, with a blend of oscar, ahmed, cedar walton and his own style in its own right. Taylor is just amazing

I thought more Gonzalo Rubalcaba, at least on that intro and on the head/theme.

If you know classical music and learn jazz music well, an incredible mix emerges. On top of that, when you analyze the folk music in the world and use them in your music, then you are truly unique. Of course, for this, you start taking piano education at a young age, knowing classical music and then learning jazz music, researching it and using them in your music, creating a new style and this makes you inaccessible

Because he uses dark cymbals, so he still wants the definition but also the qualities of the thin cymbals like crash ability and just more beautiful tones than thick cymbals
