Cheers mate. Appreciate your feedback and kind words. And yes, hopefully our paths cross at some stage. 👍👍

I think a real true indication of the cost to travel must include the cost if you didn’t travel, and what I mean by that is, there’s a cost to “staying home” and not travelling, so that must be considered. If you spend let’s say $200 a week on food while on the road and pretty much the same when not travelling, then that cost in neutral, because you’d spend it anyway. Same for fuel as well. While living the “normal” life of working, visiting friends, picking up the kids from school, running errands, there’s a cost involved, so that should be deducted from the cost of fuel, because you’d be spending that anyway. But I get where you’re coming from, most people will just add up every cent they’ve spent while on the road. Safe travels, and thanks for putting your spending habits out there for all to see, and compare.

Agree with you totally. Our view was a simplistic one as we discussed. I do not think the cost is that much greater than normal life for us, but that is for individuals to work out for their own situations. When I do another of these in 6 months time, I’ll build that in to the analysis to do a real comparison. Cheers and thanks for watching.

Subbed. Thanks for sharing your costs always very contentious and variable. Your spending will probably trend down the longer you are on the road. We did a 15541km, 3 month trip in a 200 Series Landcruiser towing a 15’ hybrid style camper back in 2021 from Mandurah WA to Cape York Qld and it came out at $13971 or $153 per day. We felt we lived it up and also factored a $1500 vet bill into our costs. We kept track of our spending using a similar method to you guys. Happy travels.

Hey guys. Welcome to the channel. Thanks for your feedback and sharing your costs. That sounds like an awesome trip. Yes this is a very contentious topic. I’m sure we will get a range of opinions on this matter. No one is right or wrong, it’s just their version of travelling, and that what makes this lifestyle so cool. Cheers guys Pete

next at a caravan park or a place with a a camp kitchen , you can bake your own vanilla slices.
@peternewhouse48523 ай бұрын
That would be funny to watch. Might have to look into that. Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching 👍👍👍

Thank you for your detailed analysis of your costs - very informative for someone about to retire and preparing for a trip. Just asking for a friend 😉...you obviously kept a spreadsheet, was it one you built or did you get it from somewhere?
@peternewhouse48523 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for your kind words. The spreadsheet is one I built myself. Been using it for a long time now. All the best with retirement and travel planning. Pete

Always interesting comparing our budget to other travellers 🤔 we are much the same on some categories and different on others. Very true about what you said with not much true free camping... we naively thought that'd be us 90% time but we've stayed in mostly paid albeit low cost sites just for the comfort of power and water, escaping the weather too 😅... great vid guys 👏

Before we watch, we must comment on the bakery Life of Pie in Murrarundi. When you showed it on a recent video, we thought we should try the pies. Sorry but they had very little meat and were luke warm. Won't be going back. Now to watch this video. We are enjoying your channel and thank you for putting them together for us.
@peternewhouse48523 ай бұрын
Firstly, thankyou for trusting our opinion and trying the pies. I am so sorry they were not very good for you. That is really frustrating from both our our perspectives. Thankyou for watching and commenting on our vids. It is great hearing from the same people time and time again. We have a few great people to chat with now, like your self. Cheers and speak soon Pete

Best vanilla slices are at Elmore bakery in Victoria.

Best we have encountered so far were in Babinda in QLD but we will add Elmore to the wish list 👍👍👍

@@peternewhouse4852 Babinda is overrated , and overpriced ,plus they only use mock cream in their patisserie.
@peternewhouse48523 ай бұрын
Noooooo. Mock cream. Ahhhh. We only get vanilla slice so we avoid that bad cream. I highly rate their vanilla slice though.

Problem with these videos is you can obviously afford it and are sitting in a very expensive caravan. To most people on the rd your spending is a dream thay cant afford. Not realistic for most families.
@peternewhouse48522 ай бұрын
Hi Wendy. Thank you very much for your feedback on the budget video. I agree with you, everyone’s circumstances are different, and as such it is hard to do an “across the board” view on these matters. All we can do is reflect our situation in the hope that others can glean some hints for their travels and adapt their expenses accordingly. I really hope that we have helped you and many others is some small way by putting our info out there. All we really want is for others to share in this awesome lifestyle, no matter how they do it or what they spend to achieve it. Again, thanks for your feedback and all the very best. Cheers Pete

Our first van cost $3000, then we saved up and the second was $15000. Even now we have the van and swags so we can all travel comfortably. We also did Tasmania a few years back with a rooftop tent and swags. Work with what you've got if it's a dream 😊 happy travels!
@peternewhouse48522 ай бұрын
Agreed. If the dreams big enough, the facts don’t count, you’ll make it happen. Happy camping 👍👍
