Jethalal Gada , 5member and 6member are very similar in stabilities . Though generally we prefer expansion from 5 to 6 member ring , in special case like the one you mentioned .. 3deg. alkyl C+ is a lot stable C+ . Hence ring expn wasnt considered in the mains 2021 ques you are talking about . (Not to mention that the ques seemed so impractical to judge correct choice for an aspirant seeing such case for first time) . Thanks .
