There's clean vocals in all of their releases, but I have to admit, these vocals sound better than any other of their albums so far
@GodlyMullet8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean I know about the other stuff... This Will Do The Job, which is one of my favorite songs by them featured a bit of clean vocals. Nothing on this level though, it's so awesome.
@ZACHBROO7AL8 жыл бұрын
the clean vocals on their fist album Centralia almost sound like a joke (I'm not knocking them, I still like them). there's clean vocals on the track celio drive, you'll see what I mean if you've heard that song.

Have you heard his (and greg's) previous band Neck? Same kind of blend. Beautiful clean parts here and there.
@DearFreja8 жыл бұрын
Holy shit though. This song is a masterpiece. Something heavy bands love to do is straight up chug for 4 minutes and say it's the heaviest thing ever, but I feel like bands that take a risk like this by adding slower, clean parts with melodic guitar, then make the heavier sounds hit WAY harder by contrast. This song is like a heavy rollercoaster ride. It's so fucking good. You guys are truly at your best when you do these types of more..experimental sounding things.
@robpiy918 жыл бұрын
exactly that's why I love The Contortionist so much. they do exactly this - clean, chilly, spacy parts and then freak the fuck out.
@DearFreja8 жыл бұрын
robpiy91 That's who I was thinking about as I was typing that comment! Integration is one of my favourite examples of this idea in music. That song is one of the fucking heaviest, most brutal songs and yet the whole thing isn't just chugs. Hell, even the heavy parts are not chugs most of the time, they're melodic and still hit sooooo hard. Their other songs are like that too. :D
@DocteurZeuhl8 жыл бұрын
Funny how I thought about Strapping Young Lad's "City" while reading this comment. It has a lot of striking melodies while being arguably the heaviest shit ever released, at least when it came out. An absolute classic.

How exciting is it to find something that feels so fresh? I can draw comparisons and discern who they have been influenced by; but this particular amalgamation of sounds, at this level of musicianship, feels like the maturation of a whole new animal; calculating, patient, beautiful, vicious.
