My PY041C Black Dial Apollo just showed up in the mail today. It is stunning. I refer to the Apollo as "dive watches for astronauts," because water is so Y1K, we're taking this party to outer space so thank goodness they dropped the lume bomb on this one!! I love the moon-landing/space invaders retro vibes.

Ooooh I like this one. I have the Phoibos Apollo Mk1 (which I like), courtesy of you, Gary! Thank you! I didn't like the Mk2, but I really do like the toned down styling of the Mk3... and that dial is gorge! And the crown has moved yet again... from 4 o'clock to 8 o'clock and now to 3 o'clock!

I appreciate that Phoibos doesn't play it safe with their designs. I just picked up a JDM Citizen Bj7110-89e , the titanium bezel action is one of the most enjoyable in my collection. Maybe a different grade titanium?

I bought their Reef Madter, three or four years ago. Really well made and excellent lume. Have to say l rather like this new Appollo too. Yeah, could say sightly cartoonist hands, but they're big , chunky and unique. Another excellent video Gary. Not going to mention the pronunciation of titanium any more. I've obviously lost that one. I really like this watch. It's a great looking daily desk diver because of the weight. If it were steel, it'd be a monster, so well done on the svelte materials.

I think a polished G10, Micarta, or even vintage bakelite would make for some fascinating dials. I'm surprised nobody has tried those yet for a limited edition. The right bakelite would give a sort of tropical dial look that some people like.

I agree with you Gary this is the best version so far. I bought the first version which was a good looking watch but had some major flaws. The watch has skeletonised hands so legibility is poor in dim light. Added to this because of the aforementioned style of the hands the lume on the hands is pretty much non existent. Finally the date display is colour matched to the dial and again legibility is poor particularly when looking at dates such as 25/26. It looks like this version has addressed these issues.

As 'I hear-tell,' the best place to use carbon is on the hands, not the dial, as it prevents the hands from bending under g - forces. Is it mentioning the unmentionable when it is said that the quartz movement Phoibos watches seem only to be available at Long Island Watch?

I think this is their best Apollo ever. I thought the previous versions look a little too cartoony, but this one certainly looks more mainstream while still having some of that Phoebus DNA. Additionally, having this watch in titanium will also be a huge improvement. Phoibos tends to make watches that are chunky and in 316L steel these can become very heavy. I have a Wavemaster with the mother of pearl dial, and it weighed over 200 g if I recall correctly. I rarely wore it just because of the weight. But I ended up putting it on a strapsco FKM rubber strap and that made all the difference. I've worn it more in the last month since I got it on the new strap, then I have for the last couple of years that I've owned the watch. So I agree, this is the best Apollo Phoibos has made.

Absolutely love the carbon dial and the general build of this watch, the hands are a bit overkill for me though. I would still however prefer the Proteus as I like a few polished elements to my watch and I like the look of a tapered milled bracelet a little more than theis one.

I bought a Zelos Swordfish to scratch my carbon dial itch but now I have it I'm not all that keen on it, every time I see the carbon dial I instinctivley want to give the crystal a wipe clean as it's making me think it's dirty and smeary. I don't think I''d get another one but I would get a Phoibos Appollo.

That carbon dial is what sets it apart from the others, however I would like to see the numbers in the bezel a little bit bigger given the fact that the markers are huge. I agree with you when you say the bracelet is too big, that clasp 👎

The best Phoibos Apollo so far? I have to say I agree. They moved the crown to 3 o'clock which I prefer. The indices are OK. Still not a fan of the odd looking handset and the non-tapering bracelet.

Hmmm. Impressive watch and too big to call pretty. Style wise I like the date at 6. But having the same markers at 3 and 9 as at 12 looks odd to me. And the lack of any taper in the bracelet makes it look heavier that it need be. But it’s all academic to me and my skinny wrists. Nice work.

Like titanium watches, and Phoibos as a brand, still this line i can't relate. Weird hands, again(!), not sure they match... again! Only previous model (with circle hour hand) looked ok, but crown at "8" was weird there. Hope they get it right... sometime... 🤔 Cheers Gary, be well mate

You should have a look at Zelos Comet with a Gold Carbon dial! Since Zelos has been making forged carbon dials for years (while other watchmakers discover it these days), Elshan Tang takes it to another level...

I can't fault Phoibos. It's not their fault I have the smallest wrist on earth :) The markers do look like very thin applied ones, not printed on the dial. Almost felt like one would come off possibly?
