Excellent addition to your ski boot. Will work with any current footbed. Very thin and adds a layer of firmness and better feedback to your feet and body for skiing. Learn more at Barrunning.com. Also, visit: bigpictureskiing.com/ and scroll down for Tom's "Explore free lessons" section.

After watching your video, decided to do an improvisation of the little bump on the sole of my boot liner, just to see what happens. It is actually really cool, made me more aware of my foot position and it seemed effortless to engage the ski edges. It is like the foot is always ready to react immediately, felt more stable as well. Like the idea of this carbon insole. Interesting stuff, thanks for posting it.

Tom, why is the bump down, not up into the foot?

I like the idea of the bump on the center of the transverse arch for edge change rotation. I also like the idea of the tibial-talar joint rotation to achieve fore-aft motion within the boot. How do these two pivot points work together? Or am I overthinking this? Thanks.

@@tgellie2348 I find if unweighting and toppling in the fore-agonal direction are key, the transverse arch motion and the tibial-talor motions blend together. Also, the dorsiflexion becomes automatic which increases the ankle-tibia flexion at the start of the carve. Thanks for your videos, they make a difference.

How thick should the sole be? Isn't the body weight also decisive? 1,1.5 or 2mm?

Tom, if I understood correctly, you adhere with the bump downwards, towards the snow. When I watch the Bar Running videos, it seems that the bump is oriented up, facing the foot to "fill in" the transverse arch? Am I understanding your video correctly or did I misunderstand? If the bump is down, how does that engage the transverse arch?

For skiing it works better facing down. It helps with edging movements

Think!!! about this!!! Your leg is a lever that when leaned over at an angle, presses against the entire inside of the boot which leans the boot over which rolls the ski over onto the edge. You could have perfectly flat feet or no foot at all and the leg would still lean the boot and ski over. If you don't need arch supports in your shoes, you don't need them in your ski boots. In fact, if you have fallen arches, you Need arch supports in any shoe that doesn't lock your lower leg, ankle and foot into a straight line.

Like he mentioned, it's for proprioception. Healthy foot fascia is indeed a wonderful feat of engineering all on its own.
