That Chromo frame is just SICK!!...if you have the strength, the carbon is the way to go, but if you’re an older rider and don’t have the strength you once had when we were younger because it’s more forgiving and not as rough a ride, chromo is it...and KJ, it was you and I that talked for a bit about chromo on Facebook a couple weeks ago for older racers and you said you felt smoother on your chromo bike, but faster on your carbon bike. I’m 56, still racing since the 80’s and I’ll be getting that Supercross chromo frame here pretty soon...I hope, whenever Bill is ready to get them shipped out...

In bmx freestyle flatland , street or vert I,ll choose chrome Molly over any or all new bikes , especially from 1987 up to 1991 , them bikes were built to last & were tough as hell , I’ve only seen just a hand full of chrome, Molly bikes crack the frame or bend frames , I’ve seen plenty of forks bend but once bike company’s came out with tapered forks it was all over for bmx flatland , street & vert .

One big stuff to have in mind... ACTUAL TRACKS, they are rock hard and stiff like nascar track so stiff frame is better... BUT, may be chromoly is cool for non permanent tracks or more dirty ones and provably your knuckles will thanks chrome instead carbon even on pumptracks. PS: Racing with a HARO CITIZEN but ride pumptracks with my SE ASSASSIN CHROME chick... Fully inflated, ASSASSIN feels like a double suspension bike.

Cromoly seems to be much stronger to me. I have seen carbon fork snap and have never seen Landing gear bend let alone break. Sure they are lighter but are they stronger?
@harpermx29623 жыл бұрын
The carbon is almost as strong as the chromoly the only reason carbon breaks is usually if there is damage to the fibers weather a rock scratched em up or something carbon is plenty of strength when taken care of
@SupercrossBMX.3 жыл бұрын
Carbon is a very strong material. And it is getting more and more refined every day. We still build Cro-mo for the older riders who want the more flex for the knees and ankles, but the Carbon is the fastest and most efficient way for a race frame. And the strongest! There is a reason .....

Hey KJ, do you ever run a 1.6" tire with a 44/16 or equavalent gear ratio? If so what are your thoughts and experiences compared to running it with a 1.75" tire?

dang, the way you with that bike around man makes me wonder how it would compare to a dirt bike on that track of course with the proper tires. if my comment seems ignorant, it is because I don't follow either for my racing I just ended up here somehow 😂

You're an experienced BMX rider and you're just now realizing a lighter weight BMX bike is easier to race and ride? So tired of these modern-day BMX bikes with chunky, fatboy seats, chunky rims, porker tires, and a total disregard to aesthetics (looks). Supercross bikes look awesome ESPECIALLY their carbon fiber ones!

You race/ride what you can afford. Of course carbon won’t flex and have a better power transfer. Save the money and do a few more squats in the gym 🤣
