They're very careful not to give you a good view from behind or directly in front of the bike & sidecar as it goes through turns; with only one pivot point, the sidecar leans in the opposite direction of the bicycle as they go thru a turn. They either end up leaning toward each other, or away from each other. I'd trust a system with two pivoting connection points (high and low) that allows the sidecar wheel to lean identically to the bicycle much better. It would also put less side-stress on the sidecar's wheel.

So go and make one then GENIUS! I can't understand the HATE from these comments towards this product!

@@boddlook language, please, this is a public forum. I wasn't trying to "hate" on anything, and I do think that it is admirable that someone built this sidecar. I realize that this is a stressful time for everyone, but please don't take your frustrations out on others.

@Alfred Wedmore Mine is fixed, no tilt. One connection at the rear axle, one on the saddle clamp, two near the headstock. Leaning with a sidecar as you describe leaves less room for kids or other cargo. The one in the video makes you push and pull the sidecar wheel sideways over the asphalt in turns, very tiresome. Front wheel axle has to be 3/8" diameter. Steel spokes 13 with more tension than a factory laced wheel, NO stainless, the heads snap off with lateral force. No suspention, makes the bike lean the wrong way. Tires 1 1/2" are enough, when carefull I can transport up to 100kg.

Is there something that prevents kids from sticking their fingers in the back wheel spokes? Could the plexi paneling be a bit higher on that side?
@boddlook4 жыл бұрын
Or tell the kid not to stick their fingers there? You could also wait till their smart enough to listen.

@@boddlook It's not constructive urgument tho. Any industrial machines are designed as it is not possible to operate when your hand is on dangerous part of machine. Do they dismis the idea and told the workers not to place their hand in dangerous place? No, because it happens nomatter how people care about it. Thus, his questioning is valid.

if you compare our sidecar with cheap bike trailer from the supermarket made in China then you are right. but I promise you there is more street credit in this sidecar compare to a bike trailer. and we sell many of this sidecars at moment. @@TheFyffe23 but we don't think it's worth 1600+ euros. That's a lot more expensive than even a good commuter bike like priority continuum.

@@MondeSerenaWilliams Carbon fiber isn't cheap. Nor is the manufacturing process. And it's definitely not a lot more than a good commuter bike. My bike (though electric) was $2400.
The pivoting is just wrong! The leaning sidecar should've been resolved with a simple parallelogram linkage system which would cause the sidecar to lean in the same direction the bike is leaning! With the flawed solution in this video the sidecar is leaning towards the bike on a right turn - this only allows slow speed turns with little leaning.

I'd say in case of a sufficiently sudden movement any kid can smash his face right on the top of that "windscreen". That will hurt. As many things it is pretty save until something bad happens ;-)
@boddlook4 жыл бұрын
And the same can be said about a car........ and train, plane, Horse, etc.!
@rainerzufall6894 жыл бұрын
@@boddlook It can be said but it will be wrong, because in trains you will never experience any comparable acceleration outside an accident, which is extremely rare AND you rarely sit in a train with a windscreen in your face. In a plane/car you dont have any windscreen in your face as well plus you are belted - maybe you even have airbags. And on a horse sudden movements happen but very few horses are as hard as a windscreen. Aside from that riding a horse is relatively dangerous to begin with compared to all the other means of transportation.
