My marshalltown 13" trowel looks slightly worse the wear then yours, but I love it...haven't the heart to properly break in a new one. Best trowels on the market

I'm seeing alot of spreads using carbon steel now but I'm still put off at the maintenance side of it tbh I like to just clean my trowels down and put them in the trowel bag no stress. Is it deffo worth the little fuss? Is it that much different to use?

Carbon all he way stu, I had a 14 inch stainless steel perma until my van and tools got nicked last year, then bit the bullet and got a 13x5 spring steel and it’s so much better, lighter, leaves a brilliant finish and just so much better I find. Would never go back to stainless. Just gotta change the wood handle for a normal one. Maintenance wise, it’s fuck all, I don’t plaster every day, bit all I did was leave it in vinegar for 3 days, and since then I’ve just cleaned it at the end of the day and sprayed oil on it, never had any issues

Keep the blade clean it’s not that hard . Quick spray every night job done don’t bother cleaning other side . I use permashape carbon brilliant trowel . I spent first few weeks keeping it clean in the end just didn’t bother.

Carbon steel is just a poor mans trowel . No difference in finish whatsoever. Pointless
