Amazing video, congratulation for the work done! Luke Bespin Fatigues was also my favorite figure as a kid. This particular figure was pretty hard to find back in the days in France and a Friend of my Dad sent it from Canada in summer 1981 and I was holding it in my pocket every day during my childhood. Kenner toy line has such an influence on millions of kids around the world, so many great souvenirs connected to them!

This was a fantastic video! Really well done, and the videography on your figures was super tight. I could see stray hairs sticking off a few figures the clarity was so good. Sometimes it's easy to forget how detailed these sculpts really were when we just look at the figure from a few feet away behind glass. Getting those close-ups helped me appreciate them even more. One bit of feedback from me, and opinions will surely differ. But Star Wars vintage toys take me back to my childhood when life was simpler and happier. Your frequent talk of "another white guy" took me out of my nostalgia and thrust politics and race back into my mind which ruined a few figure discussions for me. I enjoy the few moments I get these days where racial issues are not being shoved down my throat. Other than that, I'm definitely going to pull this up again and look over my own collection as I watch it. Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. The video was awesome and I think everything was done quite well. I didn't care for the "another old white guy," referral. It seems white males are okay to poke fun at today. I doubt the same reference would have been made about a black man. Why make it about race at all? With that being said, that is the only criticism I could muster on this well done video. It made me want to pull out all my figures from my youth, take inventory, and see what I still possess 40+ years later. I can't believe I had a couple of blue Snaffle Tooth characters and traded them for storm troopers. Oh well, at least I saved one of them.

Absolutely!! Fabulous!! Had me really reminiscing about my childhood and my Star Wars collection I am 52 brought back so many great memories looking at this video birthdays, Christmas as well There was nothing like getting a Star Wars figure in your hand going to Toys “R” Us or Lionel kiddie city There was nothing like it. And that last 17 Really gut wrenching for me I Obtain four, Ev-9D9 , Warok , luke skywalker with poncho , and Imperial gunner. They are still crispy fresh 37 years to be exact Still have the weapons they haven’t yellow or anything . I remember my mother was calling different toy stores for those last 17 And before you know it disappeared we couldn’t find them anywhere I was so sad still am to this day . My total collection of Star Wars figures It’s not a lot compared to some collectors 346 to be exact . I have 100 of the vintage from back in the 70s and 80s in fabulous condition I have all the weapons. I took care of my collection back then and I had four other brothers I love Star Wars so passionately back then . I remember whole heartedly Summer break We would be Outside playing with our friends. Back in the 80s it was a great time to be a kid. If it was too hot outside we will go straight to the house to the basement that’s Where our Star Wars world dwelled . We would be in our basement for hours In our old world. Only time we came up was for lunch and dinner And we will go straight back into the basement To finish playing with our collection . I miss those days Star Wars Ruled . I still collect . Love the video. But you know Kids of today Too many of them don’t know what it is to be a kid and it’s so sad these kids missed a great era That we had. Toys were like the peace pipe they really were Meaning you could have other friends join in and play Miss those days truly.😞😞

Apart from misidentifying all but one of the Ewok figures (which, admittedly, may have been deliberate) and not bringing up the 'Original Lando' variation that has teeth, the fact that 'brown snake Yoda' also had darker skin than 'orange snake Yoda,' or Zuckuss' and 4-LOM's names being mistakenly switched around, I would agree.

I can remember getting the Cantina playset from Sears as a kid. It had the Snaggletooth figure in a blue suit and not the red, plus the Sears Snaggletooth was much taller than the regular version. WHY I didn't hang on to these is one of my biggest mistakes! Well they were given away by my Mom if I remember correctly. However it happened I had a collection that was pretty big. My first two figures were C3PO & R2-D2. Then Luke and Vader. I got the Landspeeder for the first "ship". Then my X-Wing and Tie Fighter was next. For Christmas I was given a choice. Either I could have the Millennium Falcon ship, or I could have the Imperial Death Star playset, not both. I got the Death Star. The little trash compactor, with the little monster with one 👁 eye 👁 was included. It was a really cool set and it easily gave me hours and hours and hours of playtime and adventures with my figures. What I really loved however was the amount of characters and the immense amount and differences of them all. You could go anywhere that your imagination took you. You could create new worlds, new people with other oddball figures. I remember making my own addition to my Hoth Playset made out of Styrofoam. I had dug out turrets, places for my Rebel Soldiers. The one drawback, I never was able to get the AT-AT Imperial walker. But again as a kid you could easily imagine another scenario. These little figures weren't crazy priced. You were able to use you allowance, extra money from shoveling snow, raking leaves, or mowing lawns, or back then cutting grass with a human powered mower. Meaning YOU pushed it and it cut. No engine. Plus they were small enough that you could take them with you to the Drive-in Theater or?? Big problem with that? Losing the weapons! Those were some really great days, and some wonderful memories. I also grew up with the Mego Superheroes action figures as well as the Planet of the Apes action figures as well. Such a cool time! I really miss it!

I remember the day my dad took me to see Jedi at the Coronet in San Francisco. 1983. Thing is I was 11.5 years old when Jedi released and had moved on to collecting old radio shows from the 1930’s-50’s. By age 11.5 I’d left action figures behind. That was 5th grade and life was all about theater of the mind and Dungeons & Dragons. So I never bought a single Jedi action figure or play set. Had Jedi released just 1 year earlier in the summer of 1982 I would have rich memories of playing with Jedi toys right alongside Empire & A New Hope. The day we went to see Jedi we first journeyed to our local Payless where dad bought me a cassette of Inner Sanctum Mysteries. “Murderer at Midnight “ is the episode & I still have the cassette 41 years later. Sadly not a single Star Wars toy survived the near annual moves we made through the 80’s

Kenner had a lucrative 6 Million Dollar Man toy line that was a best seller! When the show was canceled, they needed to fill the void... enter Star Wars. The size of the figures was influenced more by the Fisher Price Adventure People line than anything else, to better sell reasonably sized vehicles and playsets. Great video!

TG&Y! Turtles Girdles and Yo Yos! That's what some of us kids said it stood for anyway. :) C3PO and R2D2 were my favorite Star Wars figures. My first ones I ever got and I still have them on my desk. FX-7 and 2-1B are my favorite Empire Strikes Back figures and characters. So very cool especially for characters who weren't main heroes. Yoda is super awesome too, but I was already in love with robots as a four-year-old before Star Wars ever came out, so they were my favorites. The bounty hunters are super cool characters and action figures. We kids loved them. I still have all of my removeable limbs C3PO as well as the net. It got torn a little bit years ago, but I fixed it with black electrical tape. I loved the action figures! I had vision problems when I was a little kid, so when I saw the first Star Wars movie, it was at a drive in theater and was blurry to my eyes. When I got the action figures, I finally got a good look at them and loved how cool they were. Didn't properly hear or see the first Star Wars movie until it finally came out on VHS. Luke started in a white tunic to symbolize his innocence. Went to brown to show a transition and it makes sense that he'd wear khakis to do his training. He wears black in the Return of the Jedi to symbolize his maturity and his increased risk of falling to the dark side. Yeah, that Cargo Handler is super awesome! I sure wish they would have made that. Very nice mini-documentary here! Thanks!

When kenner discontinued the line and got rid of their star wars figures stock, I can tell you where some of them went. To Spain in Europe. For me as a child these figures were not cheap in Spain, and I was astounded when one day I saw on a supermarket store that Colgate (the tooth paste company) had decided to include a kenner star wars figure inside the boxes of one of their tooth paste flavors!! You could actually see what figure was inside, and this is how I got my jakface among others. The only negative was that you got the figure alone, without the corresponding accessory, that they did not include probably for practical or children protection reasons.

Funny how the poster shows variations of some figures, but not others? For instance, the Ugnaught apron blue or purple, obviously a dye change, but not a sculpt change. But Han big head/small head is definitely a sculpt change and not included on the poster. Another of my favorites is the Snowtrooper, he can have either goggles or glasses (one piece or two piece eye covering). Biker Scout had variations on the mouth piece, these are all sculpt changes. Because Han in Tenchcoat had the camo variation is like a paint color change. Nothing major but it's on the poster. I have Luke Farmboy and Bespin with both blonde and brown hair. No big deal because it's just a paint change. Ben also came in grey or white hair. Leia Bespin with gold collar or flesh collar (sometimes referred to as turtle neck or V-neck), IG-88 in grey or silver, Luke Jedi with a green or blue lightsaber, Lando with or without a smile. The list of color changes goes on and on, (and some are extremely minor) but sculpt changes are not by accident. Yet not included in the official poster of figures? WTF

Great video overall. Just watched your video. The final R2 that I had didn't launch the lightsaber. The lightsaber was more of a green club that would raise and lower when R2's head was turned. The lightsaber was never meant to be taken out or R2. As mentioned the Ewoks are a little off. Chief Chirpa was solid medium brown with a 'rubber' hood & staff and Logray was brownish and white striped with skull 'helmet' & staff. My original TIE Fighter pilot had a 'Bespin' gun.

I had the small head Han when I was a kid, and I was shocked when “big head” Han was introduced…I just couldn’t understand why theyd do that to Han’s figure, he looked so horrible with that ugly big head! But it seems some people prefer the big head, I suppose maybe he was their first Han? But yeah, small head will always be the “real” Han IMO. I actually had never owned a big head until they released the Retro line and I bought it. Ewww, still think he’s ugly as sin, and the big head looks out of proportion with the rest of the body. Agree with the vid that Bespin Han was a massive upgrade in quality!!!

Star Wars Figures were alright, Empire were better by the time Return of the Jedi there was a noticeable jump in quality. Boussh and Lando with the removeable helmets. Gamorean Guard, Bib Fortuna any of Jabbas palace were cool figures.

@@CarbonScoring Yeah! Everything was heavily discounted back then! They got even cheaper in 1986! EV-9D9 £1.00 or £1.50. EV-8D8 was cheap as chips also! The Ewok’s went as low as 50p. Actually I picked up quite a few Figure’s back then for 50p. It was literally like, I’ll have this one and that one- oh hell here’s my money I’ll buy the lot! At the time although Star Wars seemed to be winding down, it really did not occur to me that in terms of the Vintage Line it was an end to an Era? I waited with baited breath for the next line of Figure’s but they did not come. Well not properly at least until 1997 onwards! But that’s another chapter and a huge one too! Best

The measuring story is BS, they knew a smaller scale was needed in order to produce affordable vehicles. The Fisher Price adventure people were used as prototypes. Do better research, there are plenty of mistakes in this video.

I really enjoyed this. I can remember like it was yesterday where I got each and every figure I had. I gave my little brother my figures when I grew out of them. The last few years I have been re collecting them and have just 3 more to go before I get the full set. The love I have for these toys is still so strong. Other toy lines came and went but Star Wars was my childhood.
