I love British DPM camouflage. I don't know why they moved away from it, as its perfect. I have two jackets I bought from British soldiers in Wainwright, Alberta in 1984. I also have a set of Canadian Experimental camouflage in DPM. Four patterns were tested in the early 80s, One being DPM, but none adopted. I also have a set of Dutch combats in DPM. The trousers have all mysteriously shrunk in the intervening years.

Thanx for watching, DPM is awesome in high foliage areas, and was the staple of the british army for many years. Once the Brits moved out to the gulf in 90' 91' Dmp no longer was viable in dessert terrain, I also have dessert Dpm, but later BMTP (british multi terrain pattern) was introduced, to blend with dessert terrain. Here in th UK as a bushman or suvival wooodsman, the original DPM is still in use for me. bIX..... Your two liter canteen is an old favorite. I carried one when I was in the service, 100 years ago!! They were called, at the time, a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) canteen. Light weight easy to carry and drink out of and to refill too. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed mine. Best wishes..... Ax

Ahhhhh, a hudred years ago, ten years before me LOL. The 2 ltr canteen is a new one to me, as it was US PAT. I use the 2 or 3 LTR camelpak, hooked to the burgen. I think I will treasure the TIT pak for years to come. I used the canteen on the Kelly Kettle Episode, fun to film, and fantastic scenery...Bex

Hey.Hey. there right my man. stainless steel is the way forward, but no one knows why?...Stainless is heaverier stronger, lasts longer, and will out live you and me...Allloy cheep quick heating, and, lighter,,, (lets the comments commence) ...Great first approach...Bex

bex bugoutsurvivor the stainless steel lasts longer, can also take a higher temperature (for baking) and then theirs the whole alzimers thing surrounding aluminium, my main reason iis because their tougher, ok they take longer to heat up but that's easily solved just start cooking a couple of minutes before you usealy do:) also with mine I can fit a cheap aluminium mess tin (big one) over the 2 stainless tins as their slightly smaller, I'm curious to see what your going to do with that sleepin bag linerr? , atb

I recorded a vid last year but never published it, with my concerns over alzimiers disease linked to aluminium cooking. Slowly my kit is being replaced with slainless steel, lot pricier, but like you say will last long enough to pass on to ya grand kids, (thats all their getting from me) my newer aluminium mess tins now have a plastic handle and makes it impossible to bake with, think I will make beer bread in the woods this winter, using the nato mess tins...1 sleeping bag liner experiment coming up..Bex

bex bugoutsurvivor theirs a big debate over alloy v stainless concerning Alzimers, personally I use both as I think the risk is minimal at best, I've the Dutch canteens and cups (stainless) which I use all the time, and I allways use wooden or plastic utensils so not to scrape bits of metal in to my food/drink,, if you can get a fleece sleeping bag liner get one improves any sleeping bag as well as keeping the bag clean

Great vid mate...as always..you have some great kit mate.. Love your british army arctic 2 man tent...was looking for one, but they are like rocking horse S##T..lol......but thought it would be just to heavy for a bergen..so i went with the snugpak scorpion 3 for my basecamp bergen and the snugpak ionosphere for my N.I patrol pack. You can never have to much kit mate...lol..and you can't beat the sas windproof smock.heeee Look forward to more vids You and your family stay safe now........and remember.......STAY CALM...JUST BUG OUT Dan

Cheears Dan, the arctic tent is quite rare, I had it out is storm othillia with 70mph winds and hours of driving rain, it is bomb proof. I find Bergens are poor for camp transporting, and the arctic tent is now on my vintage frame pack, and carries so much better. ATB ....Bex

Thanks for the reply mate...that arctic tent is built to last,you can see that in your vid.....awesome.... Your so right about the bergens...but my 120lt bergen is more of a throw it in the car bag now (i have a back problem...same as)...heeeee.Going down the vest and belt order route like yourself...as for gas masks...i brought a M3 full face industrial mask with some heavy duty filters..stop some very very nasty chemicals..and airbourne particles.Would have loved to have got a S10 but its putting your life into something thats old and past its sell by date....but would be nice to use around the camp fire to stop smoke in ya eyes...lol....That chest rig is a cool bit of kit tho mate...will have to check out some army surplus on ebay again...will have a look and do some research into frame packs... Bloody hell mate, you're doing alright and the boot sale. I'm going to start checking them out. I need a belt and pouch for my Bino's and maybe a ration / reference book plus bits and bob's pouchs. Was thinking of a skeleton 58 set up (how I found you sight) but now the worlds my oyster!

Don't know if you have seen part 1 of survival treasures, plus the carboot wearables, its getting harder to find things now, but am always surprised to see kit I didn't know about. I found a Royal Marines arctic burgen worth £90, think I payed about two quid. There is the 58 skeleton episode some where on my channel too.. ATB...Bex

BEX GREAT AND VERY INTERESTING VIDEO, but takes some advice from and old fart get the Fushion done on those disks I did back in 2003 and know regrets it was like being born again my normal life was back . It took a complete year to fully recover but like new now it was a big deal but best thing I ever did for my self . HAPPY TRAILS .

Very interesting advise, will look into it real soon. My back isn't healing as quick as it use to, and with me being 27ish now is a complete pig. The back has gone into spasm about a dozen times over the past 20 years. who ever your buying this stuff off must really like you, even when you say you overpaid ... its less than the going rate, (the bottle with a wool cover is Czech, very similar to the ww2 german model) Ref the chest Rig, ... if you have a bad back, try extending the straps and wearing it lower around your waist.

Thanks for the great intel/ Czech bottle works well a a hot water bottle in the slug too, (toasty toes) A couple of sellers are known to me, vertrans of (RM) , and 3 para, so mates rates sometimes...Will try wearing the packs lower, gota admit pack tab seems to help the lumber pain.. many tnx buddy Bex

Always enjoy your video's, just a little point an American gallon or quart is less than a British gallon or quart so I measured my us water bottle the same as the one you are showing and it's 1 one and three quarter litres
