I was repairing my father in law’s mower yesterday and was puzzled by the lack of a choke flap. Now I know, cheers

Your diagrams are invaluable. Great job on them. Every one of your videos answers an "oh I see now" questions

Isn't the butterfly fully open when the engine is not running? On my Briggs it is held open by the springs and when the engine starts, the governor pulls it closed.

Excellent Possibly just explain the features of your schematic diagram at the beginning a little more; i.e. what everything is. Thanks

I have this carb on my Troy-Bilt Edger. I'm having an issue with it surging. I replaced the Carburetor with the gasket and diaphragm, replaced gas cap, replaced spark plug, and put gasket seal on the intake tube to the engine and still surges. Any thing else I should look at?

Hi. Sorry to hear you have been having issues after all of this. I personally would now check your fuel tank. Specifically where your carburetor fixes onto the it (the flat shiny area after you have removed you carburetor). Sometime these can distort allowing air to enter from this unnatural place and mess up the whole running. I can't say it is this for definite and the distortion can't really be seen by eye. However, here is a quick way (that I personally use) to find out roughly if there is any distortion. I use a straight somewhere. A piece of metal or an anvil or something. Place some very very smooth wet-n-dry sandpaper onto it, and then gently rub the flat shiny area onto the smooth sand paper. I am always extra careful no to rub too hard. Just a few movements backwards and forwards! Then take a look at the fuel tank again, and see if you notice any areas that have not been touched by the sand paper. Any areas untouched may mean that your fuel tank is distorted. In the past I have smooth these out by continuing to rub (if it isn't too distorted). I have had some success but i have always found that purchasing a new one better of course. It may be the issue or it may not. Its process of elimination. Unfortunately this is a risk you may have to take, which is what repair agents have to do each day in their workshops. Rough sand paper may make things worse so please rub carefully on very smooth. I hope this helps. Craig

@@TheRepairSpecialist I have a new manifold tube and gasket coming in today so I will try the new tube first, and if there are still issues, I will look at the tank itself. I have been banging my head against the wall with this issue so hopefully one of these items will fix the issue. Thank you for answering on such an older video and issue!!
