To me, they are not the same in any respect. This Batmobile, which I love, is kind of a silly comic-y/cartoonish, creation. The Burton era Batman movies weren't really meant to be taken seriously; they were really campy (I still love them. They're my childhood). Nolan era Batman was to be taken much more seriously, and to be as realistic as possible. The tumbler was a military creation, so it had to look the part. So, to me, comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges. That said, this Batmobile is probably still my favorite; it's so stylish and unique.

From IMDB: The Batmobile was built on the chassis of a Chevy Impala, and incorporated the engine of an Impala, the tail lights of a Ferrari, the fuel caps of a London bus, and jet engine parts from a Harrier Jump Jet. The sliding cockpit was also inspired by that of a Harrier, with the slim windows of a gun emplacement. Art director Terry Ackland-Snow added the headlights of a Honda Civic to the vehicle after noticing them on his wife's car. One video that I watched said the chassis was two 1988 Chevy Impala's. So, if this info helps anyone, there ya go.

this vehicle wasnt just from the 2nd film but from the BOTH Keaton films, 1 and 2. This car becomes the "Bat...Missle" in Batman Returns as it loses its side flares and fendors to go through a narrow alley. Theres more of these cars than what they claim cause there was a contest when the movie was released to win one of these cars. I was a child in 89 when this movie was released, and i was sooooooo excited for it that i bought a magazine strictly themed for the fim, and inside were the contest rules and entry for your chance to win a replica. Fast good restaraunts use to promote summer blockbusters in those days with their own promotions, and i wanna say Taco Bell done the promos for this movie. I know they did for Demolition Man, but im not sure bout this one.

The GM frame's wide design allowed the driver and passenger compartment to be set between the frame rails rather than on top of the frame.

@@dennydeckerful Denny I don't think Carl actually created the general Lee or kit. He just owns the rights. He did create the batmobile we were talking about though. Under direction of a guy named Anton. I think his name was who was head of props and stuff for the movie.Carl mostly built his own customs for his self and still has every one of them. He is something else and a great guy. I was at the last show in Louisville with him. I played Elvis for a while and Carl had me at Louisville in 2010. My KZbin channel has a few videos of that. I was in the west wing. Since my childhood I worked for Carl and my Dad who is is first cousin. @@mrDCunningham Casper took the job to build a fleet of General Lees for show, and also worked out a deal with Warner Brothers Studio to show the cars around the world. “Believe it or not, it just became a major hit - it was just unbelievable,” Casper said. “People in Europe, people in Australia, South America and throughout the United States - it was just a major hit. People loved it.” Casper was soon churning out builds of iconic Hollywood vehicles - among them the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am known as K.I.T.T. from “Knight Rider” and the van for “The A-Team,” then was tasked with building the Batmobile for the Tim Burton-directed 1989 film “Batman.” Casper followed up as the Batmobile builder for the 1992 sequel “Batman Returns.”
