Oldsmobile-car company with so many inventions, first with automatic gerbox and front wheel drive, disappeared from the car market only because GM had no idea of how to use such a potential. Sad.
@CAROLDDISCOVER-198329 күн бұрын
@@funkykoval9424 honestly Oldsmobile disappeared because of the quality control issues of the 80s at GM had. Pontiac disappeared because of Obama. Are you curious why I said that? 🤔 When they bailed out GM and countless other companies, there are certain things that the companies had to do. Streamline. Pontiac was the performance company If you're looking at it the left side of politics don't want performance as far as gasoline engines go.. I'd rather use your electric cars that has a bigger inorganic footprint by the time it hits the dealership then your modern conventional car does in its entire useful life. Vent over. GM offered to drop buick. They almost let him do that and keep pontiac. But then they realize that their Chinese friends love to Buicks over in mainland China. Can you get rid of Buicks a drop pontiac. But take a look at Oldsmobile Pontiac Buick is there an extent the Chevy Impala. From a business point of view there was not enough market for the same car to be rebranded. With the huge share of the market taking over by imports, I need to drop something. That's a summary of the rest of the story. And what she said about them not knowing what they had, I agree with that to a point. You could say the same thing about Pontiac as well.

That 442 is a sexy beast, but simultaneously, it's really cool to see 80's Dodge Diplomats and Chevy Caprices running alongside 90's Ford Crown Vic's!

Great driving, but as exciting as these muscle car are, I prefer to see the big old land yachts lurching around in the dust. To me. there is nothing quite like a 5,000 pound chrome laden space-ship on bed-springs being driven round a corner at high speed. I love this channel though, and try to grab and upload every day. Keep up the great work.

The guy driving a tow truck says it's only a race. Then he crashes his 442 convertible out of a building. It's only a 1970 442 convertible and my question, was it a Hurst Olds edition? Crazy money that car would be worth nowadays and even at the low point those cars were still worth a lot of money 💰 for the time. Now I don't know did you ever catch up and save the girl? Then you've got two punks chasing two kids on bicycles while they're in their Chevelle. Yeah I know it's only a movie but I preferred Yang kumau their car wash going down the road. Not the actors in this movie but something like that in real life makes my blood boil.

there were three ragtop Hurst/Olds in 1968, five in 1969, but they were used for promotion and experimentation. In 1970 Olds didn't want competition for its W30. A ragtop would return in 1972 for pacing Indy and then it would be Hurst T tops from then on.

@@alertgasper I actually have three Oldsmobiles parrot to and from 1968 and a third one from 1969. They're all 2 doors. The 1968 442 came from Western Idaho originally. Then spend his time and arrest free Kansas and that does exist. I bid on it it had been turned into a modified dirt car. Background 1986 cuz that's when the last tag was on the license plate on the back bumper. He still had a few parts left over. He said they were thrown in when he bought the car. He only modified the race car. Race car by the time he got it. How long has a Russell size of your thumbnail. Perfectly straight body. Why somebody would do that to a 68 442, I'll never know. Anyway everything's for sale. I think I did a video on the race car and the 69. The other 68 is low mileage car and it's buried in the back. Anyway, if you'd like to go look at my channel and look at them you're welcome to you. I was glad to talk about cars. Person doesn't have to be interested in buying them to talk. I had no idea about the low manufacturing numbers on the Hurst Olds convertibles

@@CAROLDDISCOVER-1983 I'll take a wild guess, George Hurst decided working with one bodystyle allowed him to focus on making it great, since he had other irons in the fire. Good luck with selling those cars, I finally landed a 1968 Olds 442 a decade ago. I would have been happy with a no-option F85 after reading Hot Rod Magazine's "Project Junkyard Dog". This particular one had been built the way I would have, for far less. Switch pitch torque converter (Hurst really dropped the ball not trying to refurbish ones to put in the 1968 H/O), variable duration lifters, old Allison captive discharge ignition (I would have gone with HEI, but that's ok). 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds, that's good enough for me for $4,500, turn key ready to go. It definitely a barn find, 243,000 miles with a cracked windshield, but that's what i could have afforded back when i was 18.

@@231mac you must have not understood, I was referring to the cutlass in this movie. Not the 65, the 65 442 was completely different. It came with a 3 speed and 2 speed because 442 didn't mean what it was changed to in the following years. I've done my research because I own a 1969 cutlass 442 and I wanted to know more about it. If you had read what I said properly you would have understood what I said and saved yourself from the stupid little rant you went through..
@BigBlackBussy5 жыл бұрын
@@231mac 442 was changed to 4 barrel, 4spd, dual exhausts in 1968, when it became an option package. If you had done real research you would know this. The 1964-1967 442s were just called that because it was originally just a designation without a real meaning, that's why they also came with the jet-away and the hydra-matic
