Zayn has been given the scraps music industry. But he always turns water into wine. He finally understands that as a mixed race brown man being "ambitious," trying to excel in career is seen as a negative, and standing up for yourself is seen as " difficult " and "argumentative." He understands that only white artists are allowed to be ' creative' in other words, argumentative and ambitious and allowed by the gatekeepers to be "at the top. " White artists are gifted with grammys and ample opportunities for their ambitions and initiative...brown, black artists are (if not backed by gatekeepers) punished and told to " know their place " ...which is usually back up singers, the side kick, supporting characters...never the main character. Good on zayn for sticking it through. They have deliberately sabotaged his career because they can't attack his talent ( they have tried...people call him a bad singer for example). I hope the industry run by white men hasn't worn him down and made him give up his dreams/ ambitions. Being blacklisted for having dignity and a different approach to the status quo can get tyring, and I can understand if he decides just to stop running in the hamster wheel. For many people of colour/ mixed race, he is enough he can be proud of his career most of us aren't even allowed those heights, he dan alsi be proud cos despite the blacklisting he is still here doing what he loves, and he is making music. Yes, he might be sad at the way they blocked 🚫 him in industry for not being a puppet...but most of people who know his story or researched understand and support. He will not be recognised or applauded by mainstream music industry or mainstream media but the media and music industry is corrupt...media is the sensasionlist-pseudo journalism, culture manufacturing/ engineering and music industry is indentured servitude. Those who have researched into the rabbit hole of 1D and RCA, and zayn...know zayn is never going to get justice for the xenophobia, racism he experienced in tabloid and mainstream media, the band and from racist 1D fans...but from readings it sounds like despite difficulty he will not be bitter about that lack of justice. He will possibly learn and see in perspective that unfortunately that's the way world is for the "orher" artists but one should still strive to live contentedly and peacefully. Get yourself a good trustworthy (not yes people) support network.

He definitely needs a loyal network who also strive for excellence and not mediocrity just like him. I think he is in the process of figuring out a lot of stuff all at the same time which can be overwhelming. He has some excellent leadership skills but he lost his way a little bit. Hope he finds his way back and hope we can see his exceptional talent more.

@Aishwarya Matta this is a great read from one British South Asian fan perspective and touches on the concept of mediocrity especially in relation to mainstream media which is predominantly white. Here's an excerpt: "Brown Excellency versus White Mediocracy Within the One Direction fandom, however, a more nuanced issue began to surface - underappreciation. Music is, of course, subjective; though it isn’t exactly controversial to declare Zayn’s vocals among the best within One Direction. His solo record sales seemed to reflect this in the earliest days of his solo career. ... Zayn subsequently fell from the prevailing spotlight. Maybe this was a consequence of his lack of personal promotion and touring, and the artist’s desire to live privately. But, as Zayn himself has previously claimed, it could also be down to an unconscious bias amongst entertainment big-whigs. ... Rapper Tinie Tempah also expressed similar grievances towards the ‘complexities’ of marketing an artist, suggesting people of colour (specifically Black artists), are more likely to receive less financial backing than their white counterparts. ... It begs several questions - as the only prominent South Asian artist of the period, was Zayn’s solo career somewhat sabotaged as an inadvertent result of white supremacy? Beyond budget issues and marketing endeavours, would his talent have been held in higher regard? Would he have shaken the image as a reserved, trouble-making bad boy from the get-go?" thatfangirllife.com/2023/02/how-zayn-defined-the-british-asian-fangirl-experience/

Another reader did a Harry styles reading...really, really interesting 😮😮 they said exactly same things about Harry! "be at the top" "at all costs"... notice the difference in reception in music industry and the general public. Zayn is vilified and blacklisted from grammys for doing exactly the same things ... that as an artist, you'd expect ambition and wanting career opportunities. Zayn can't win because him stepping away from thst "ambition" has people ridiculing him and calling him lazy....so he is either too ambitious or not ambitious enough 😅😵💫 In any relationship there are two or in any friendship group there are multiple people...but in every Zayn reading it's only Zayn who is self aware enough to look into himself abd question himself and improve himself its always him wjo has to be 'the bigger person' and 'has to be mature' and 'has to let things slide' or 'look over the heart break and pain people have caused him' it all seems so unfair, unequal and onsided, all these relationships whether they be platonic or romantic. Zayn needs to find reciprocity in friendships and romance. Otherwise, he'll always be emotionally manipulated, gaslighted, and scapegoated. He'll always have the burden of doing all the work.
