I loved this version of Card Sharks! Don't get me wrong, Bob Eubanks was a good host on the CBS version, and the addition of winning a car was a good idea, but sometimes it's best not to try to duplicate the original.

This by the way was the last show of the series NBC originally aired for Card Sharks on NBC, as it aired on October 23, 1981. Host Jim Perry had quite a 3 and a half year run on the program, and Jokers were never in the decks of cards. He later went on to host $ale of the Century for a six and a quarter year run from 1983 to 1989 on NBC, as he returned to do another game show. R.I.P. Jim Perry you are greatly missed.

On October 23rd 1981 after 864 episodes, NBC sadly axes Jim Perry's version of "Card Sharks". Replacing it Monday morning with Alex Trebek's "Battlestars". "Password Plus" moved to 12Noon.

Both CS78 and CS86 began during the term of one president (Carter for CS78, Reagan - 2nd term for CS86) and ended during the first year of another (Reagan - 1st term for CS78, G.H.W. Bush for CS86).

Wasn't "Card Sharks" going to get cancelled in the late summer of 1980, but got a reprieve from NBC, allowing it to run for another year or so?
@crlaw752 жыл бұрын
It got shuffled around to a 11am/noon time slot, since The David Letterman Show took its spot. It faced competition from other programs on those slots.
@libertubey21993 ай бұрын
Yes, along with Wheel of Fortune. Unfortunately, High Rollers and Hollywood Squares did not get that reprieve. Also, because WoF was originally canceled, it cost them the services of Charlie O'Donnell, who secured a new job upon the show's original cancelation.
