@Eye Opener That’s exactly what it is, an experiment. Implementing this in a developed country like the USA or Europe would be very difficult because there are already robust financial systems in place. Replacing them with blockchain technology will be difficult because obviously the people that control the current financial system will prevent this from happening because it’s in their best interest to do so. This makes choosing developing nations like Ethiopia a very wise choice because there are no established systems in place. Most African nations use cell phone credit as a currency for example. Could this tech be used for malicious purposes? Sure but I’m going to keep a positive open mind and when new info comes in I’ll change my views accordingly. You on the other hand sound like you’ve already cemented your opinion on the subject. I think if anyones got a hidden agenda it’s you. Now if you had bothered to watch the full-length Africa special you would know why they chose Africa, specifically Ethiopia to do business. They may fail, heck there is a good chance they will but if they are successful this will change Africa in a big way. Maybe there is a hidden agenda, but you’ve presented no evidence of this only speculation. Anyway, I’ve probably wasted my time typing all this lol because you don’t sound like a person that listens to logic and reason only half-truths like most conspiracy theorists. I’m not saying you are a truther btw but you definitely sound like one with the way you worded your post. I hope I’m proven wrong but I have my doubts.

@Eye Opener My apologies, I didn’t realise I was talking to the king of Africa. I never inferred that Africa was a poor nation, it’s one of the richest nations in the world. Africa also has a young nation who are educated and very tech savvy. Which is another reason IOG decided to bring Cardano/blockchain tech to Africa. Reading the views of African posters on Reddit, the discourse on Cardano is mostly positive. There are some valid concerns like corrupt governments using it for nefarious purposes. Overall though people of Africa are interested in blockchain technology and want to take advantage of this opportunity and learn more about it. Western agenda?!? If anything it’s an Eastern agenda as it’s China that controls the majority of the bitcoin hash-rate. Out of curiosity which country are you from?

This provides a further layer of security much past what things like our current social security system are plagued with. A persons Digital ID can be a private and legitimate way to identify a person globally but needs something like block chain to prevent fraud.

Because it is based on industry DID standards and lives on the public Cardano blockchain, it's highly flexible, too. So exam certificates first, then insurance, microloans and more. hey dude many peaple have the same feeling let me explain as an amater and fan of ADA. basicaly in database you can forge entries and change them so you can print degrees without the pearson actualy going to school. what prism ID did is that when teacher of profesor ads entry to the log the log gets locked and there are rules that make the log un coruptable which makes it immposible to forge for expmle degres. such thing is imposible without blockchan or is realy hard to pull off whit simple database. I hope i explained it corectly. it is also proof of existence of that person and ther can only be one such identity i asume it is just the begining of identyti confirmation for lending it would make total sens to start building identyty from the school years :D cheers and buy soem ADA you wont regret it.

Hi @@JohannDowa , You can run lots of things on the Cardano blockchain e.g. metadata and NFTs/native tokens. But you are right that smart contracts are not yet available in the public chain. It is available on test net though. What I meant was that IOHK has started the development of the tailormade system for this deal. Charles said that approx a month ago during one of his live streams. The deal has been made months ago but IOHK had to wait until all internal stakeholders in the Ethiopian government were ready to announce it. As you might be aware of governments (and especially the undeveloped ones) can be quite slow at times 😉
