Well, if you or anyone you know is anywhere south of England this week, there's a few days left of the real show in Eastbourne. It's running until Saturday I think

Actually I just realised I’m not south of England, England and Wales are two very separate places, and driving is effort and a thing I cannot yet do. Shame, oh well I’ll keep my eye out to see if this show comes anywhere near where I live. Thanks for replying by the way, I’m a big fan!

Oh gosh, I wish I had seen this tribute sooner! I saw this show for the first time in Brighton on the 24th January 2015, the day before my 21st birthday. I've been to many different plays and musicals, both in the UK and some in the US, but I still think of that day as my greatest theatre experience, with both friendly theatre staff and an amazing performance from a most talented group. A great tribute to a great show!

Yesss! How did they react to it? I mean, it's a bit loud!
@DanteDeshar9 жыл бұрын
Very nice, I was wondering for a second if you did the drum beat twice or edited in the previous recordings second part after the change but I noticed the hand gesture was slightly different at 1:24. I'm now noticing several differences with the way you're sitting, the box angle and how much the box moves. So I guess my question is, for each of the 8 screens where you stand there an do the overlying theme, are they all separate recordings or are any of them doubled up for effect?
@DemonTomatoDave9 жыл бұрын
Oh don't worry, those are absolutely two separate recordings of me bashing that box. I wouldn't betray the moment when the second drumkit "engine" kicked-in when I first saw this show! I did cheat for one tiny bit though, after a bit of footage went missing. You'll spot it if you look carefully. But yeah, there's a lot of separate recordings running at once here. And by the way, it takes a lot out of my video editing software, I basically can't see what I'm doing at all until I render it. Goodness knows how Smooth manages.
@SnowDemonAkuma9 жыл бұрын
DemonTomatoDave Starting at around 1:30, the top far-right and bottom middle-right seem to be the same recording. Is that where you cheated?
@DanteDeshar9 жыл бұрын
SnowDemonAkuma It's definitely not the drums, I watched the top left hand corner of his chair (my left not his) the whole time and the two videos have a different distance to the edge of the door frame, That difference never changes.
@DemonTomatoDave9 жыл бұрын
SnowDemonAkuma Well spotted! Yeah, I lost a take somehow and had to double-up. (Most probable way I lost it is that I just miscounted and never recorded it in the first place.) But the rest are all separate recordings.
@DanteDeshar9 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I misread the comment. xD

I know you use some editing to hit those high and low notes, but I'm curious to know what your natural range is. Also, how *do* you edit/hit those high notes?

A question from one with no idea of this show prior to this amazing cover, I hear this song all the time here in Hawaii, and I know it's connotation with the surfer scene. But is this song originally from RTFP, or did they cover/parody it for their show?
@DemonTomatoDave8 жыл бұрын
No, this is the original version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmKWqo13n82IZq8 Part of the joke (if that's the right word) with Planet was that it looked like a classic old sci-fi film, with hairdryer ray guns etc, and its soundtrack was made up of the music from that time. But they would play it sincerely and make it sound great, the actual music wasn't "silly". I mean, except when it was. Um. Anyway, it's diluted a bit now that jukebox musicals make up the majority of what you'll see touring and they're often put together with a bit less care and a bit less tongue in cheek, but it still works!
@Abunai_Gaming8 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, REALLY fast response, thanks Dave! Great cover by the way, I can't stop listening to it, favorite part is around 1:51, got chills first time I heard it :3 And while it was a long time ago, congrats on the surreal experience on the wedding night :D
