Marine rules of the road says if you aproach another ship and you can see his red (port left) light you must give way. That includes anywhere from dead ahead to two points 25 deegrees (correcxt me if I am wrong) aft (to the back) of the beam (center of the ship) Bow to beam 90 deghrees 1 point is 12.56 degrees I THINK so that would be 90+25=115 degrees on the left side looking to the bow (pointy end) WHEW!!! In other words the coasties f&%#ed up. big time in broad daylight and a clear sky. Search the BLACKTHORN that crashed into a ship and sank under the sunshine skyway bridge in only a couple minutes. It took several crew with it.

I myself am not particularly versed in navigation, but this is very interesting;) In this video, I tried to recreate the situation when a coast guard ship is trying to detain an intruder’s ship using a ram, without the use of weapons, I saw such a situation on KZbin)
