In the worst Maritime disaster in Cardboardias history, The Cardboard of the Seas 2 sank in the North Cardboardian Sea. A floating palace, with the largest swimming pool at sea, she carried over 3000 passengers. In her final moments, the ship split into three different pieces and rose up almost verttical before plunging to the fridgid depths.

Can I just take a moment to compliment your ship designs? It's like a perfect blend of classic ocean liner and modern cruise ship silhouettes. Like a nice tribute to an age gone by.

Excactly! They dont design them the same anyway. I know the old hulls weren't the most fuel efficient, but theres something about them that is hard to let go. QM2 is one of the last transatlantic ships, but the S.S United States has been moored in Pennsylvania since the 90s. I never had the chance to sail on one of the old girls, being born in 2001. But man, to see them in their hayday, hear the old horns, feel the vibration of machinery from yesterday. It's sad!

These ship designs have and hopefully always will be spectacular. Thank you for giving us 12+ years of quality content. You’ve never changed your content, you just got better and better at making it, and not a lot of longtime KZbinrs like you can say they’ve been making the same kinds of videos for that long. So thanks again, I know you’ve made childhood memories for many people like me. Take care

As a survivor of the cardboard of the seas, such a sad day for everyone. I give credits this French person on the boat, we didn't speak the same language but I could tell he was warning me to get to safety. I would have not known that ship was going down so early without him. I sadly watched him die trying to save others, he was a real hero

This is genius! it reminded me of that time we had at home a big rainwater tank with no cover and I sank a small cardboard ship in it. To expedite the process I placed tiny fireworks inside and tossed a light match through a vent. It was so fun! In the following days I used to return to the tank and watch my creation there laying in the sandy bottom.

6:10 “The ship sank steadily until at the last when it plunged rapidly, just before going down, it seemed to rip, breaking into the three parts into which the ship was divided, first the middle seemed to go down, lifting the bow and stern into the air, then it twisted the other way, throwing the middle up, finally the bow went under, and it plunged stern last” Carrie Chaffee - Boat #4

Interviewer: "What is your name and occupation on the ship?" Survivor: "Jacob Steamer. I was the chief ballast operator for the ship." Interviewer: "What can you tell us about the events of the sinking?" Survivor: "We- the other surviving crew and I that is, think it was a boiler explosion closer to the bow. Its the only thing I know that can cause a list like we felt. The lights went red and the bulkheads sealed themselves up. The Chief got a call from the captain a few minutes later for us to get the ship's list back to normal so that's what we did." Interviewer: "Why was that the first order you heard?" Survivor: "Don't rightly know. The Captain might have known more about the situation but my best guess would be that the list was making launching boats harder than usual." Interviewer: "And did you get the list corrected?" Survivor: "Yeah. But it was too late to do much. The forward list was too great and it was obvious to us that a good portion of the ship was under. And when we got topside we only saw around eleven boats in the water, half of which were capsized. " Interviewer: "Yes, how did you get topside?" Survivor: "Well when the forward listing started getting harder to control the Chief ordered us to abandon ship. Couldn't use the normal way- Take too long you know? So anyway we all headed over to the ladder to the air shaft on the last funnel. Felt the ship break her back and snap. We all panicked climbed as the aft end of the her settle in. Made it to the opening when we felt her break again." Interviewer: "Why was that?" Survivor: "When she broke the first time her stern slammed into the water with enough force to crack just before the engines. Saw the cracks form like magic. Almost as if the hull was cardboard you know? Anyway when the bow started to go further into the deep it tried to drag the stern with it. The hull being weakened by the cracks caused her to snap again aft of the final boilers. The rush of air and the boilers exploding caused a rush of air that forced us out of the last funnel right as it was going down. " Interviewer: "And how many other crew managed to make it out from the engine room?" Survivor: "More than the passengers that's for sure. Most were in the boats waiting to be deployed when the ship went down from under them. By all accounts the evacuation drills did their jobs and most of the crew and passengers could have survived. But that damned list kept most of them from being deployed. The capsized boat I was on had eighty people trapped in the boat, unable to get out from under it due to their life jackets keeping them from swimming out from under it. Poor bastards died listening to us complain about the cold..."

Excellent Interview! After reading it I began to wonder if perhaps automation of some of the Ballast Control Functions may have played a role. It's my understanding that Cardboard Cruise Lines relies extensively on the Rockwell Turbo Encabulator for some of the Control Systems. While the Rockwell Turbo Encabulator has enjoyed an Excellent Service Record, none of them have even been recovered intact following a Shipwreck... direct exposure to water will cause a Retro Encabulator to Self-destruct in 15 seconds. Please extend my Sympathy and Condolences to your Friend in the Ballast Control Department... no doubt he has great remorse over this unfortunate Tragedy. There's several Videos featuring the Rockwell Retro Encabulator as well as the SANS Turbo Encabulator which is an Improved Version... but the only videos I can find are here on KZbin and none discuss it's known propensity to break down when exposed to water... ... you don't suppose that there's some sort of Cover-up or Conspiracy involved???
