Because you have to discard cards from your hand with a total grade of 3 or more in order to stride. Does this help?

thanks, but what confused me was that atlas had a grade 3 harri that he considered riding just before and i was wondering why he didn't use that to stride.

When I think of Draws in Gurguit, my first thought is "Deck Out." But if you can manage to beat your opponent before you deck out with draws and its consistent, then you can use draws But the new stand triggers are so good! You may prefer them over draws.

zhee dhelan He is the worst strider in the game. He pays a net cb1 for basically +5k ( the unit he calls goes away so its a net +0)

nah, that was terrible. you only had to take the pwylls attack...not only that but scourge point would have been a way better stride target.

I admit my performance (no pun intended) was rather shoddy there. I was all excited about the g guards, which were new to us that day.

The reason I chose Ray Breath over Scourge Point was because if I got a stand trigger, Pwyll would be a 16k base and would make Atlas drop more guard. If Atlas was at 5 damage, scourge would have been the go to for sure.

your artilleryman shoulf have gotten power when a card was put into te soul for the g guardian

Artilleryman only gain's power when a rearguard is put into the soul. The G guard picks a unit from the deck.

At 7:43 the GP player cannot called units cos the Attack did not go through

Holy Mage Pywll's skill is as stated: "[Counter Blast (1)] When this unit attacks a vanguard, if this unit is boosted, you may pay the cost. If you do, look at three cards from the top of your deck, search for up to one card from among them, call it to (RC), and shuffle your deck." You're misinterpretation with the skill is because Pwyll's skill activates when it "attacks a vanguard." Because skills that are on attack take place before the opponent guards, the skill does not need to "hit" in order for it to activate. If the skill stated "When this unit's attack *hits* a vanguard...," then you would be correct. All of the grade 2 units that activate their skills when they attack a vanguard and are being boosted (Knight of Twin Sword, Steam Fighter Amber, Maiden of Gladiolus) do not need to hit in order to activate.
