Cardfight!! Vanguard: Grandgallop Deck Profile (Cosmic Hero) February 2018

Dimension Police is finally back in the competitively viable spot, but this time not under the cloak of Dimensional Robos, but Gallop has risen from dust and become the true king of braves on his own!
I give a very detailed breakdown of the deck, a couple of ways of building it, as well as various rulings and interactions between the cards.

As always, the in-depth DP content never fails to disappoint. I like the various meta calls you mentioned throughout, particularly Build Standard. I remember sweeping it under the rug (and, if memory serves, everybody else did, too). It's interesting to see starters like these that look underwhelming on paper be particularly useful in certain situations (Miraioh in Victor, for example). Laurel is something I hadn't even tested in Gallop, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out on this side of things. It's always nice to see a deck profile done in so much detail in a medium dominated by "here's my list and nothing else." It's a style I'd like to see more people follow, even if it does take more time to get through the video. Thanks for all your hard work! Keep it up!

Aww thank you! I'm glad people still enjoy my detailed style of deck profiles haha As for Laurel, I think you can honestly go fine without him in this meta. There are good targets like Grandaid that you could replace him with, and you wouldn't be losing out on too much either.

Let me say first that The Intro was epic as hell lol. Also after finally finishing the video, I like both builds but I am leaning more towards the Resist Build. Since this meta is insane for Control, I would be more safe to use the Resist build but Chaos and Overlord are still a thing with Circles and Put down as locked effects. Then like you said as well, Gredora is also a thing and it's a scary match up. Grandgallop was a deck I wanted to build back then but then I got more focused with Dimensional Robos. Gallop is a scary deck and it's a force to be wreck'n with. As always, amazing video and I I can't wait for your next video. :). Also yea, my shop is filled with control meta lol.

I also know how it would interact the problem is I think it is still extremly clunky and unpractical if you go for the under 80k combo and mostly you play around your own deck which is not the best way to play. sure the possible 3rd 80k+ attack with BP can be pressure but that really depends on the dmg your opponent has and if you did hit a crit etc. I rather pressure him with 2 Bravest Rushs on RG then trying to get a 3rd BP attack, especially because in this meta Laurel is probably dead the turn after you placed him, so you only would get one chance with him most of the time depending on what you play against.

Thx for your in-depth look into this deck! I enjoyed it allot as I am also a Gallop player. I love the new support, especially how Bravest Viktor revives old strides that you just couldn't reach the required power on as easily such as Laurel D and X-Falcon. As for my build, I run 10 grade 3s(Thus no stride fodder) for Linka pressure to hit and restand Vanguard shenanigans. Also heavier on stand triggers. I also think the resist cards give you an edge in the meta, as well as the cards that dissappear at end of turn like Grandscout and Grandwisdom for those field control decks. Overall, great content! Just want to clarify that "1/Turn" refers to the 1st time that you can activate it is the only time it can be activated for the entire turn, not just that you can only use the skill once per turn(For the players watching and unsure). Also would like to congratulate you on your work as a commentator for the world championships, I enjoyed your comments and how you really talked about the different strategies that the players use. I'm a big fan and a fellow DP player. Keep up the good work! ;-)

David tan: Each Daijet can use their 1/turn skills. Once you've activated the skill, you can no longer activate that specific Daijet's 1/turn skill (It's an ACT, so you can only activate it in the main phase of course). If it were an auto ability (And still had the 1/turn), then it can only activate in the first time that it can. If it is triggered again later in the turn but you didn't use it when it was previously triggered, you cannot use it. That's what I mean. Feel free to ask any more in depth questions

David tan you'd better get DifferentFight in on this conversation, he knows all about Drobos. If you ask me, I'd say Dainexus is a really good pick, you should watch DifferentFight's vid about his deck profile. The reason I think Dainexus is the fact that you can full up your deck with grade 3s, making that on drive check reveal and Magna bird allot more consistent, also the fact that you can then use those grade 3s as 10k guards and to intercept with makes for a very impenetrable shield. Especially against decks that guard restrict to no grade 0s. Not to mention that you return grade 3s to the deck from drop which makes the deck regain those grade 3 10k shields later in the game. As for Daikaisers, they are really nice and you can still play them side to side with Dainexus as DifferentFight does. It helps when you get G locked or so. But tbh, I do think Dainexus is better since the skills are newer and overall just better. Daikaiser can still kill even if the opponent is on 2 damage, I admit. But overall if say Dainexus is the better pick. I'd love to hear DifferentFight's comment on this as he is the pro on this topic.

Great video as always Kris-kun !:D I was laughing to how much our builds are similar until the triggers came haha. i play 6 crit 6 draw 'cause I don't like stands in a LJ meta (at my local tournaments at least). I totally dislike trigger a stand and have nothing to stand with haha. Maybe my logic is wrong so maybe I'll try with stands later anyway. haha I actually hate draw triggers most of the time, because of the only 5k shield and how often they destroy your drive or dmg check because instead of checking your crit or heal you draw it which is especially bad if that one crit or heal would have got you the win or saved you from certain death xD and with the resist build you're pretty safe for the stands to have a target :)

Step2012, well, i can understand your opinion but as I am facing Chaos and Overlord most of the time, resist just don't make any difference to them since theses jerks lock from hand or destroy circles xD That's why I actually don't play stands but I might try them out soon :p

that may be true but there are also other decks where the resist units really can help and in your turn you can harass the opponent with 2 attacks if you hit the stand because they can't get rid of it^^ and like Kris explained you also get decent draw power from the stands and Linkas psychological effect also shouldn't be underestimated :D really try it it's so much fun especially if you opponent doesn't really expect a stand and then boom xD

Interesting! I am a big supporter of the resist build personally. I do 4 volver, 4 bolger, one daibarast and only two of spike brother dude. I do like his free draw but I don't like that he is a one and done. After the turn you use him hes essentially a dead card where as volver and bolger activate every turn. Plus I just love volver and bolger on the field together. Definitely see the appeal for 4 though.

Before the gbt14, different fight deck is really good. But tomorrow, march 1st the sneak will come out and next week for the box, this deck needs to be changed a lot. I suggest some change: the g2 line up change to 4 10k vanilla, and 3 balest. Put less scout and laurel and the trigger need to change, I change stand to draw, (my formula is 1 draw for each laurel) and the rest is crit. Laurel can't stand the first atk of x peak but he always ready for the second one so control the power.

Wish you had mentioned that grandwisdom is stood with a stand trigger, you can swing and use the effect again to cc twice at the end of turn.

didnt they change the once per turn effects now so that you dont HAVE to activate them the first time they are triggerable? so for example you can attack with X Peak, he has a bunch of attack but you dont activate so he has drive 3, he hits, you activate laurel, and now on the second attack you use the skill, giving him drive 4 and then he stands again with no drive. leading a total of 7 drive checks and 3 attacks.

Yep, that's true! Although you're risking an extra drive for an on-hit, so I wouldn't do it unless you're very certain it'll hit LOL

You can, but then you're banking on the attack hitting, and if it doesn't then you just lost an extra drive check which I think isn't worth it. Hope that helps!

Thought's on Grandlady? I feel like being able to tap and give 4k can help. For example, makes Balger a 21k on attack. If you hit a stand you can just stand her and still boost. Wanna know your thoughts on the card.

sadly grandlady lost lots of advantage, for one in this control meta she gets killed pretty fast and also you don't really need the 4k boost anymore, instead you can rather play for example grandgunner that boosts your G2 with 11k

Definitely this. You tend to finish first stride with 11+ cards in hand and it is overall a lot more consistent and can have a strong matchup against a lot of decks even if you get locked down, field nuked etc.

I would also suggest trying Grandaid! He's very good for your first stride turns as well. In the end Laurel isn't necessary in this build, but it's just the interactions that I like and wanted to explain so I kept him in there as well.

I will now quote the official comprehensive rules in which it illustrates my argument: 10.22. Lock 1.22.2. A locked card is turned face down, put it to stand and this card is regarded as a different card from the original one. 10.24. Unlock 10.24.2. An unlocked card is not treated as the same card as the original card. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. The comprehensive rules are always available online for you to check yourself, in case you need to confirm.

My problem is when reading the effect "At the end of the turn, retire this unit, and SC.", I would gladly SC but why dosen't he get retire tho ? My problem is not the SC it's not retiring him. But hey, if I can use the SC and keep on the field for free so that during my opponent turn hes a extra RG for Dolphin, just great.

With all due respect, DF-senpai, I find it absurd that you would not run x-falcon. Bravest victor made x-falcon an insanely good first stride, putting some serious pressure from the get-go. I find the reika interaction with x-gallop very cool though, so I might actually drop my crit count to 7 to tech 1 reika in (linka is too clutch to take out)

DifferentFight I actually never find my cb to be a problem. But then again, that might be because I play enigman blanc over laurel (price reasons : might change once I obtain that card tomorrow) and grandhop over standard (never once had it killed before gb). Still, I rarely even need the countercharging from those cards, and their primary purpose right now is to fuel the soul But grandvolver is probably the cause of your cb needs, if I had to guess. If I were to run him, it would he purely for the resist. I'd actually probably run 10k vanillas over it, seeing as this deck dies to rush pretty quickly if one doesn't play draws. I'm not suggesting you change your choices. This is simply food for thought.

X-Lead really is confusing. At first, it was one rear-guard and your vanguard that gains power. Then, your vanguard and the same number of rear-guards as the rested rear-guards gets power. I checked the comments on wiki, and you can actually do both. *Mind-blown*

It doesn't say that though for the +1 drive part. The +1 drive remains as long as Bravest Peak remains on the V circle (until end of turn). The only thing that can happen 'at the end of battle' is the check timing for 80k or more, in which case you will restand and lose the drives.

A lot less once Bravest Rush settles down LOL Maybe 300-350ish with the Laurel reprint? It'll probably drop over time, but Bravest Peak and Bravest Rush are basically the most expensive cards in the deck.

from my testing its very similar but ive cut laurel and playing 4 reika no linka. dont play laurel because it never lives theirs no point its locked or killed on my turn before it matters so i gave up, also reika is just a better brutal trooper so like her at 4 reason i dont play linka is cause i find her unreliable and if i dont get a crit with my van my opponents dont fell pressured to guard the second attack so they just take the 1 damage plus it never works when i want it to as i never check 3s when i use her so overall its just kinda megh in my opinion and i would rather run more crits and reikas for draw. just personal preference i suppose :)

you should give linka a chance because don't forget she is mostly there for the psychological effect, just the chance of you breaking a PG when you have 4 drive checks and could als check a crit can be scary for the opponent. so you should at least play her at 2-3 :) @Kris ok that is actually not such a bad idea using laurel for xD "here you go Commander Bait, Laurel" xD

i have researched the snot out of x-lead and you can choose the same rear-guard for the 1/turn skill both our local judge and buishiroad deemed this so, while the wording is awkward it is saying the same thing as the Japanese text properly translated as seen in the cotd when triniy dragon booster came out in japan. here is the link; cardfightcoalition.com/xplosivefinish/

did you really say if you put the resist unit in the front row, overlord can retire it. ???? no Matter where you put the g2 resist. it will get retire by destiny..... you will get rid of the g2 resist with the soul blast skill no matter where you put the g2 resist

Oh yeah of course, but what I meant is that Overlord only has the resist-bypassing retire once per turn (unless they run an unorthodox G Zone)

1) no grandhop,2 no Of the new derobo grade 2 cb1 draw on attack..so much free hand... you don;t need lurel in cosmic he better in Derobo!....he only good for the first stride and besides that he kinda dead, not running 4 rika....(Grade 2 go 3-4 of the derobo,2 wisdom 3 hogen and 4 of the resisit one. simple)

I state in the video that Grandhop can easily be maindecked in a best of 3 format. If you watch the video, I present a 2nd build with Daibalest. Please pay attention. I mentioned that Laurel isn't that necessary in the build, I simply wanted to highlight the interactions that people kept getting confused about.
