As I begin to play Link Joker myself with the combo-heavy Messiah deck, I need the almighty tutor from YellowCard Vanguard, Zystral, to walk me through the combos as well! We dissect the Messiah deck and the combo potential that it has, as well as give an alternative 2nd build that was prominently seen in Korea!

Another benefit I thought of for Prayer Child of Steady Cosmo is in the scenario that you ride Ideal Ego Messiah, it gives you a way to lock Neon Messiah to get Alter Ego Neo Messiah. Also, for the decklist as a whole, nice work; as a Messiah main myself, it feels nice to see someone give my favorite deck some respect lol

Also, for Integral Messiah’s hand reset skill, I usually treat him as a chance to refresh my triggers because of how many triggers are in my hand and how large my hand is on top of that

As a die hard Messiah player (Alter Ego's been my avatar since OG Alter Ego), I was impressed with both builds. After watching this I decided to take out my Arrestors and replace them with Awaking, and it actually made a difference. Also I disagree with not riding Ideal Ego. Now I only ride Ideal Ego if my opponents strides first bc it's first effect can activate on ride, so i can call a locked unit to the field, draw 1 and add 5k to VG. I can't tell you how many times I did that and managed to draw a card I needed for that turn or during my opponents turn. Now if I'm striding first then yeah, Neo Messiah all the way

well integral is really good because if you ride him late game or as a final stride, they'll have 5 cards in hand against your field that could be multi attacking or have a metalia with big numbers. You'll often be able to get a better finishing turn off integral since you can get at least 10 cards because triple drive and alter ego neo draw 2, while your opponent is struggling defending everything. It also helps with anti deck out because you can have like 14 cards in hand to reshuffle in deck

I agree with most points made, however I disagree with the 3rd Integral, as I don't think the situation has or will ever come up that you actually need a third. The redraw skill is not optional and whereas its use can devastate high hand grind decks, you would only ever need to use it once against them, as you are also putting yourself in a risky position. Regardless of the gb2 and the drive checks added onto the 5 cards you get, you are still potentially not going to get back anything useful, either in the immediate where you are fishing for some extra offence but you draw triggers or in the latter when because of drawing a hand full of triggers on the reshuffle, your trigger pressure is much more limited. Also at that point in those matchups if you aren't winning on the integral reshuffle at third stride you're probably not winning that game at all. That is why I prefer one copy of Amnesty in the g-zone as it does check a very specific but important scenario with a much higher degree of success overall. This is when you know your opponent is out of PGs, whether they lose them early game or had to use a good number blocking your previous turns, the situation does come up, and when that happens Amnesty can close the game out much more decisively because of the crit pressure. Obviously what I describe is also specific and situational, but that is the beauty of the modern Messiah G-zone, it is a massive toolbox, you should now have a stride for any situation, and if that situation doesn't arise, then the card becomes flip fodder for integral or harmonics. Also the difference between the two builds pose an interesting theory, we're also beginning to test. On paper, more traditional, messiah combo build is a structurally sound well oiled machine that does what it needs to do and will do it very efficiently. However its potency is brought into question if it is unable to get to the stage in the game where it becomes live, namely surviving the opponent's first stride. Which in very aggressive matches like Victor, Thavas, Brave and of course Nubatama, you will struggle to keep up, making their first stride often deadly. However on the flip side, the Bomber build which in theory should be able to deal with these aggro decks more reliably, would struggle in the grindier situations as you're sacrificing a lot of multi-attack pressure for the sake of early draws, which also results in a much faster deck out. This usually comes around 3rd stride I've calculated, with you unable to go into a 4th because your deck is so low. In conclusion, I would say both builds are great, but which one players will overall prefer depends on their competitive environment. I personally still prefer the more traditional combo build as Messiah's combos and design philosophy have always been the reason I play it over any other Link Joker deck and the reason I play the clan at all. But still if one build shows far more potency and consistency over the other in testing, that is probably what will stick out in the upcoming results for Spring fest and other events, like Birmingham, which in particular I am looking forward to.

Fun fact - The PG doesn't need Messiah name, it needs Messiah race. Currently that doesn't matter but it is worth noting for future releases.

I honestly wouldn't anymore. He doesn't cost any counterblast or soulblast, which is nice, and he makes 11k on his own as a self locker, which is nice, but the fact that he doesn't relock himself after being unlocked really restricts your ability to make columns without Neo Harmonics. His field control doesn't offer much because you have Basaltis or Trans-else if you need to shut down everything, and he offers no other benefits after he lock himself. You now have Steady State (PG) to guarantee self-locks for whatever you need to set up anyway. Believe me, seeing my 4 SPs rot in my binder isn't great either :'( ~ Zystral
