someone said, that Cardiacs had more ideas in one song, than most bands have in a lifetime, so true

I want to obnoxiously post this in every metal forum ever. Just so they might start understanding. But on a more positive note, this is terrific. Especially for the best version of 'Nurses Whispering Verses', and 'Is This The Life'. Two of the finest pieces of music in the last 40 years.

I was often amazed that Cardiacs managed to remember what to play and when in a song, such was the ever changing intricacy of their songs. But you've managed to chop up many of these early Cardiacs songs into little bits as a medley and remember what to play where and when, absolute genius! Tim would be most impressed, well done matey :-)
@MaxMobarry4 жыл бұрын
That's so lovely of you to say, thank you ^^ And for pointing out how delicate a medley of this stuff can be, I love that part of the process. It's like crafting a new song that has to flow, but also hit the nail on the head with each track in a concise way, because honestly every Timmy tune has such a spark to it that editing ANYTHING out becomes a struggle hahaha. Learning it was actually the easiest part, I obviously didn't have a click track but after spending so much time splicing the tracks together I was familiar enough with how big tempo shifts would be between the songs, familiar with what little edits I made and all that. It just became about putting the actual notes/fretboard to the parts for each snippet, and most of all remembering what order they were in with 36 little bits to represent. Luckily I went in knowing how to play through most of these tunes already so I only had to learn a handful, mostly from Obvious Identity

As much as I love the Garage live version of Wooden Fish on Wheels, the original studio version has the perfect tempo and groove. Love em both, but I really love the original.
@MaxMobarry4 жыл бұрын
Totally with you there, the reggae-style upstrokes are so groovy in the original. The live one is so "amped up" like the rest but that's one that really shines on The Seaside

This is so awesome! My only gripe is that you only played the ending to My Trademark and none of the other incredible riffs on that song! Grr! Oh well, you had so much to play, this whole video is an impressive feat of guitar performance and it definitely showcases Tim's incredible and underrated guitar work. Salutes to you!

Funny enough I performed it live in July for a stream with my band. I also sell transcriptions and happen to already have that song completely written out for all instruments -- I could use the money if you'd like to play it for yourself.
@sicko_the_ew4 жыл бұрын
@@MaxMobarry I just thought I'd mention a song, seeing as you asked before the medley. I'll keep in mind that you sell transcriptions, though. (I'm first working on teaching myself the triangle part - on an old horseshoe I once found). I enjoyed your medley immensely, BTW.

Brilliant! Awesome! Other adjectives! Why I didn’t learn of that band until about a year and a half ago is a fucking crime against humanity that should be investigated by the UNHRC.
