Well, Im just a beginner. I just bought an engraving tool almost 23 days ago and keep practising. I feel lucky to discover your channel. Relief carving looks more attractive for me and I really loved your works. Thank you to inspiring me ❣️

Wow! What craftsmanship! The detail is incredible! I like that you combined traditional carving with power carving, I believe both have their place in what you do. Great job!
@ChiseledOutdoorsCC3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I appreciate the fact that you enjoy both the power and traditional carving. I agree that they both have their place! I definitely prefer traditional, but gouges are expensive and my collection is still very small. The power carving really helps fill the gaps in my collection. lol.

I know what you mean by never racking steps for the cardinal. My first carving was a cane, which i use everyday, and I was so nervous about how the Owl was going to turn out. I started with the same cutter for the feathers but I wanted narrower cuts so I ended up using diamond bit for them. Much happier with that decision. I really love how your carving came out. I especially liked how your leaves came out. Keep up the good work, Thanks for sharing

@@ChiseledOutdoorsCCThanks for your comment. I spent this morning making a house sign from pine, using a craft knife and some very cheap and cheerful gouges to cut around the letters. It's not finished yet, and it's not very good either, but it was still time well spent. I must now buy some decent chisels and a good carving knife!

You are using white pine?? great grain, looks almost like basswood.
@ChiseledOutdoorsCC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is white pine. It’s very similar to basswood as far as carving goes. It might be a bit more grainy but it still carved really nice. It’s much easier for me to find too which is nice. Lol.
@tombryan7204 жыл бұрын
Really great work. I've been looking at the oz plus at treeline but that's BIG money. Are you using glued basswood or a solid piece? Your tools look nice and sharp, a skill i desperately need to work on. I don't have a great set but they do work. Again, beautiful job
@ChiseledOutdoorsCC4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This particular project was one solid piece of white pine, but I have glued up several projects before to get the size I need.
@lourdesmcginn45733 жыл бұрын
when stoning the feathers what bit do you use so that it is not fussy? Do you use a low speed?
@ChiseledOutdoorsCC3 жыл бұрын
I just use diamond burr bits. You can find them on Amazon. I carve white pine which I find doesnt create the fuzzies as bad compared to basswood.

@@Mecit786 I can't speak to walnut because I've never carved it before. Pine is great for beginners though. It's soft and holds decent detail. I get mine from a local sawmill, so I'd check around where you live to see if any sawmills have any.
