Spring is a time when hand-stripped Schnauzers can really be shedding and for whatever reason, the harder coated dogs often have denser undercoat. This can make your Schnauzer's jacket look sparse and puffy, even when it isn't. Before you start picking too much at a sparse-seeming short jacket, get some undercoat out. It may save you putting holes in your nice growing-in topcoat. Carding out undercoat is best accomplished when the topcoat is short.
