Wish I had teachers like this when I was studying, although I am not in medicine but engineering. Amazing ability to teach without trying to show off using buzz words. Presents exactly the right amount of information at the right place and moves on. Love the use of the fountain pen, and his ability to draw in freehand the concentric circles with equal spacing. While the negative side of the internet is causing so much suffering to people, the positive aspects of internet are exemplified by this brilliant teacher. It is for us to realise the value of internet through learning from teachers like this. Thank you, great work.

You hit the nail right on the head! I love the use of the fountain pen. It’s really at a pace where you can follow without getting lost. It’s all about teaching in a classic style and not trying to show off! Thank you Dr. John Campbell. :)

Thank you! I ve watched a lot of your presentations over the last two years and now I'm moving on to these! You make it interesting and I just want to learn more! At 67 years of age I have a basic knowledge of how our bodies work but these videos fill in the gaps. I wish I was starting out again, I would definitely go into medice. On a personal note I had a mitral valve repair and ablation procedure 2 years ago and I now finally understand what was going on 😁

I see my cardiologist tomorrow and at 70 this IS my condition in one chapter or another. Wanted to ask what explains difficulty breathing at the edge of sleep even when sitting up. I know you are teaching here and not diagnosing and just had to thank you in advance for helping me to identify my symptoms. My mother was an RN from the 50's thru the 80s and after retiring took care of most of the women friends she had worked with and known her whole career. They had also known me from birth and I was often tasked with elevating the head to their beds one after another unril she too passed away and it was my job to muddle thru without " getting fired" so to speak. Wherever this takes me, having your knowledge and manner will be a companion I wouldnt otherwise have. Thanks and best wishes.

Wow so well explained. Thank you so much! Your channel is incredibly valuable to me in my first year of nursing school. I have so many additional questions about this topic. For example, my placement at the hospital working at - why can’t someone with COPD get more than 91 percent of oxygen saturation? Is it because the air can’t get out?

31:12 I have to say the whole high blood pressure problem is debatable. If you measure high bp and there are no kidney malfunctions causing it, then the pressure is reflective of narrowed arteries, because local narrowing increases measured pressure at the arm. So which is worse, lowering blood flow below what the body wants, thereby reducing oxygenation to tissues, which will for example impair blood vessel maintenance, or letting the pressure be, requiring more blood vessel repair? 32:28 just to repeat I don’t buy the hypertrophy leading to heart failure idea. Athletes would have the same problem. The only reasonable explanation in my mind is accumulating direct heart muscle injuries from things known to damage muscles, such as from some drugs. 56:30 the only causes I can find for venous hypertension are obstruction, and narrowing. 1:10:19 where does this burst pulmonary capillaries due to hypertension story come from? Is that taught in schools? I can’t find a single paper or blog that says that, and chatgpt also disagrees with the idea.
