Career Counseling with First Generation Professional Clients

First-generation student (FGS) clients face unique challenges when entering & moving through university life. Upon graduation & entry into the workforce, FGS clients may find themselves in similar circumstances to those they encountered as first-generation college students; they may find themselves
without access to the various supports as they navigate their first professional positions. By gaining a better understanding of what these challenges are, counselors are in a unique position to offer support for those identifying as first-generation professionals (FGP) in their career development.
