James, I have watched this video and your NodeXL training. It is the best there is and extremely well taught. I wish I had you as a professor when I went to school. Thank you!

Titus, more than compatible, Office Suite is necessary.

Hi, James. Just a general question about the 'power' of sna. So if we talk about statistical modelling like logistic regression, or linear regression, they not only provide descriptive analysis of collected data, but can also be used for prediction/inference. I understand how visualising a network can tell us who has the most/least connections, but is there any predictive power with sna? What inference/predictive questions can it help us answer that a different type of statistical analysis wouldn't be able to do?

(I hope James doesn't mind I respond to this)...There are some inferential procedures that are used with SNA recently such as exponential random graph models (ERGMs). It differs from other statistical tools in that ERGMs and related procedures are specific to work with networks. as others may not.

Hello, what I should know to specialize in social network analysis? in academic career? thanks...

hello James. is there any way social network analysis could be useful in architecture?
@JamesCookUMA8 жыл бұрын
+David Cruz Absolutely. Social network analysis concerns relations between individuals and patterns of group affiliations. I'm not an architect, but my understanding of architecture is that it strives to arrange physical materials and physical spaces in order to promote, discourage, develop or erode various kinds of social activities -- including association and affiliation. How does one set up a prison, a hospital, a school, a neighborhood in order to foster social networks of different kinds? That's a network-architectural question right there. In converse, many social network analysts describe the structures that emerge in social networks as "architectures," recognizing that they share many of the same features and consequences of physical architectures.
