These are the things that history is made of. We teach in schools the "big events", but history, *real* history is the stories of the people who lived, the places they called home even for a short time. Their struggles, their challenges, their missteps, and their glorious successes. So long as the stories are told, they are immortal.

it's true. My grandfather was taken in by the English when he was a refugee just before WWII, he then helped Vietnamese refugees and now my parents help Syrian refugees. Sadly, there is always someone being wrongfully persecuted or victims of senseless war.

My father was in the British Pacific Fleet on HMS Tenacious. When he and a fellow sailor disembarked for shore leave they were picked by a couple to be taken to their home - they had no idea where. They ended up on a farm in Coonabarabran, NSW which even today is around a six hour drive. They had a fantastic time horse riding every day.

Honestly want to become a celebrity so I could do this, both grandparents from my father's side were adopted and I'd like to know their family name as that has been lost. Through my grandmother I know she suffered a great deal with the family that took her in and it would be great to find any descendants of her brothers and sisters as they were separated when the adoptions went through, my grandmother was sad due to this almost all her life wondering about her siblings. Through my mother's side there is talk of being descendants of French, Japanese and maybe middle eastern but that has never been confirmed. Through the avenues opened now with genealogy and Open Records I'd have to have millions of dollars to have these records sent to me...

You don't have to be a celebrity to do this. As bob cl said, you can get an Ancestry.com kit and it will tell you a lot any you may find cousins and distant relatives through their portal. It would be so interesting! Good luck

You'd be amazed how much you can learn, if you get a little help finding out where to look. It only takes millions of $$$, if you want other people to do all the work. What it takes is TIME, and a little money for travel, depending on your family history. If you know where your ancestors came from, you can ask around in public records offices or churches. My mother did this, and found family history (well, at least one branch of the family) going back to the 1740's.
@X_Enecs_X3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The study of genealogy is actually a really common thing! If you don't want to put in the effort of looking up your family history yourself you can probably find someone to pay on sites like fiverr or through discord or something like that. It's always interesting to dig into your family history!

@@X_Enecs_X A little update, I have managed to find some records on my own and found out that the last name my grandfather always thought was his biological's surname/last name wasn't it and his mom kept his biological father's name as well as his adopted name.
