Cargo Bike Trailer - First look and demonstration

This is just a quick video to show my newest toy, a cargo bike trailer. In this video I demonstrate how the hitch works and how it can be folded up very small.

My trailer is 80% the same. The difference, from what I can tell, is the shape of the bike tow hitch. Mine is on a 45 degree angle, which I feel would probably aid on moving it around. Only issue I’ve found is that has a tendency to bounce around when empty. When it’s full I found it really smooth and easy to use.

I just want to say thank you for the great video you do I do like your milk cube in the back that's pretty cool but I want to try to get me something that's a little bit better but yours is awesome cuz I've been looking around for a a sturdy basket for the front of the bike in in a bike rack in the back with some baskets that can hang on to the size of the bike rack in case if I'm not using it I could take it off and let's just ride for exercise or whatever I need to do that will help out I just want to say thank you for the great video and I hope you do wear a bike helmet have a blessed day

The brand of the trailer is ' KMS ' If you google search KMS bicycle cargo trailer it will come up. Or you will find their web store on Ebay and the item can also be purchased on Amazon. Hope this helps! :)

My trailer was a rebuilt child trailer ''Dreamer Design'' 20'' inch wheels I had to rebuild the trailers tongue it broke when I was hauling a load of wood shavings the trailer was fine handled the load nicely but the Tongue ripped off the trailer. I had to relocate the tongue bracket on a more sturdier part of the trailers frame that ment drilling new mounting holes for the tongue bracket. used pallet boards for the trailers box. and lag bolted 2x4's in between the outer frame rails so I have a good base to screw down the trailers 1x4 deck planks.

How do I stop the fabric from sliding and rubbing on the tires ?its tearing my fabrics when I make a turn with cargo

Most likely. The only concern is that the trailer might not ride completely level, and you might not be able to turn as sharp.

good hitch design..really a bargain for $70...i sometimes see baby trailer/strollers for $30 in kijiji but i cant pick them up coz i dont drive :D

I'm a uni student and I think trailers a great idea to transport the stuff needed to study, including my work folders. I'm worried about how to secure them properly so it doesn't get stolen. Is there a way or do I have to reattach the trailer each time?

Probably the best option for this particular trailer is to drill a hole in one of the corners of the frame that is large enough for a lock to pass through.

Yes, you could loop the lock through the foldable side rail things, but if someone really wanted to steal the trailer they could unbolt those from the main part of the trailer.

Yeah I guess, ur that's the only prion I have atm. Also when putting the wheels on, did you anything between the wheel and the trailer? I have a bolt thingy and a weird shaped black bot thingy. Do I need to use them?

There is no manufacturer's name on it anywhere. The company I bought it through is called MH Canada Inc., and they import tons of stuff like that from China.

One more question I'm lost I look for a bike rack in front like a Baskin and a back rack that's big enough to carry some groceries in cuz it's kind of hard to carry your groceries on The Handlebar being trying to steer I need something like that also and I need to be pretty wide for a grocery bag at least the fit in there or or something couple of gallons of juice that might like to drink or maybe a 12-pack of mango tea put in the basket besides beer in my backpack can my backpack can be for like light stuff like bag of chips or something that will not get crushed can we go on eBay to get that also I just hit a hundred 80 lb I'll be okay for a couple bags cans orange is not real heavy no work this perfect but I need the brand name of this trailer and I need the cover for the top in case if it rained I'm carrying my groceries home but don't get too wet and one more thing can this fit inside of a apartment door if it's raining that way I'm not in the rain when I get home if not that's okay I still managed to what one of these bad boys I should have thought of this I could have been Rich by now living my dream but I didn't think about that was too late cuz that then his kids we didn't think about stuff like this now so tell me the name of this trailer so I can look online so I can find me one just like this one did it looks like a pretty good side to hold a few cans in there

I've had excessive tyre wear, a solid axle all way through will have no wheel shimmy or toeing out

Hi. I found one for sale near me and saw this video. Thinking of using it for a couple of touring trips per year. Is this trailer a good option for this? 3 years have passed since the video, you still use it, any major flaws? Thanks!

The trailer is quite inexpensively made, and I really can't say how well it will hold up for long distances. I only use my trailer 2 or 3 times a year at most, and only in the city for short trips. There are other videos on this KZbin channel where I have shown the trailer in action. The only flaw that I've found so far is that the original inner tubes would slowly lose air and become soft after a week or so.

cjhoyle Well, it´s good to know that it hasn´t fallen apart after 3 years. My tours are on asphalt only so let´s see how this goes. It guess its not a big investment to make and if things go wrong, I can always go for the Nomad Upgrade. Thanks

@@cjhoyle My trailer is the VidaXL version, the canvas bag has no velcro front/back, alloy rims, from what I saw your axle retainers are the correct way round, mine were the opposite, causing rapid tyre wear - excessive toe out

What's the brand name of this trailer and can it fold up and slide under a bed I'm looking for something similar to this so I can cash in some cans for some side money cuz I'm having hard times right now and I figure I can use something like this to get a couple of heavy bags not too heavy just a couple heavy bags and Karen to the can join and cash them in cuz I don't drive the last days when it's not raining I can take my cans to the can joint in recycling because sometimes I tried to protect your house from all the cans I want to do it my way by rinsing out the cans first then I'm going to smash them cuz I don't like this in my cans cuz I'll do that myself well just wondering cuz it's also work for carrying a couple bags of cans on the trailer cuz that's what I'm really looking for something that can fold up and it's easy to store under a bed or in the closet somewhere and doesn't take a whole lot of room and it's really easy to put together and take apart without I haven't spent all day on it and I kind of like the idea of that trailer that's similar why I'm looking for but do you got any other color besides black tarp or whatever you call that and you got something to cover your groceries up with in case if you have to carry some groceries to so sometimes I tried you for myself and then sometimes I have to ask people take me to the store or somewhere if I need to go but with this I can depend on myself sometimes on this little trailer for the bike I have a green Schwinn mountain bike that my mom bought me the money she gave me then she passed away my step dad gave me the money and one day I saw this Green Mountain Bike I had to buy it but I'm thinking maybe I should update on my mountain bike is way the cables are made and everything and I wish all my cable was inside the frame somehow but then I'm still going to keep it and get to new job so I can keep riding it but then Fred was someone messed with the cables and decide to cut the cables cuz they're thin they don't have no brake for my bike and if I do get me another bike someday Maybe I'm going to maybe a neon yellow bright bike for emergency use in case if I have to ride at night somewhere for emergency use which I probably won't cuz I try to not right at night if it's not a muff one more thing what is the name of the trailer so I can do my homework Maybe by this one I know the frame to fit underneath the bed tires I can find room for the tires somewhere out of the way that's not a problem in the apartment life and yes I know this can work for carrying maybe two or three bags of cans well right now I'm asking what the name of it and can you buy this on eBay since eBay just pretty good job for me instead of Amazon and then I can probably have someone help me get it together and that way I can start doing my can right now it's going to take a while to do the cans and then when I have like two or three bags I can go cash them in myself at the can joint and sometimes you might have to ask my sister maybe is she could take me to the can join but I got to do it my way but right now I'm trying to get back in small business of cans recyclable business

My trailer is unbranded, but other commenters have mentioned that there's a company called Aosom who sells a trailer which looks the same as mine but has their logo on it.

@@cjhoyle I thank you for the information you have a blessed day I think that was similar to yours when I got done cuz I thought yours was awesome trailer cuz that will work good for my apartment life for now now help me out on some things when I recycle my cans the help me out cuz I'm on my own and I have a bike and that would definitely work and I could use it for other stuff too if I need to but mainly cash in my cans right now I don't have hardly any kids cuz I got build up and when I get to three bags it should hold cuz I did find one soon yours exactly like yours actually and it was 143 lb just like you're not just want to say thank you and I just want to say whoever made these trailers I should have Ben rich but back in those days we didn't think about it until the present came and it does come with a cover if I need to use the cover I know it's going to fit in there and eat the bed in the wheels can be put to the side that way if I'm not using it it be okay I'm also looking for a big giant Basket in a another basket for the back of the bike just as well in case if I'm not using the trailer I think I have pretty good ideas where to get some good deals on eBay I'm just doing my homework right now right now I got to save up my money to get get stuff like this I guess take your important stuff first but you have a blessed day sir

the brand name is usually Aosom, and with those 16" little wheels, there's No Way it would be safe to load that poor thing with anything near " 180 pounds". Even with 20" wheels, 180 pounds would be too much.

The one that I bought is unbranded actually. The diameter of a wheel does not determine it's strength.

@@cjhoyle My main point is that the "180 pound" load maximum of the light trailer with the 16" wheels is Absurd. A person would soon find out that an overloaded trailer is dangerous.

@@cjhoyle I have owned an identical trailer with the 20" wheels (factory rated for 180 pounds max.) and while it is quite well handling with a light load, it is obvious that it would be quite a handful with heavy loads. And the factory does not rate the model with 16" wheels at 180, that is the rating only with 20" wheels

@@dehoedisc7247 As explained in my initial reply, the trailer that I own is not branded. The paperwork that it came with said 180 pounds. So yes, in my case the trailer I bought was rated for 180 pounds.
