But the crew is still stuck inside the ship, unable to contact the outside world. There mobiles have been taken away by the US government. The US government should provide the crew with the basic needs like food, water, medicines, etc. The truth is, the crew is not getting their basic needs. It's becoming a mental turmoil for the crew. It will surely affect the crew physically and psychologically.

Love the idea that the governer was there "overseeing the work". As a politician he would be there for the PR reasons, wishing to be seen to be involved. And as a politician only, he would be well advised to leave things to experts, rather than interfering.

I found that statement rather odd also. The government is allowing millions to enter the country and stay without any visas or paperwork. Yet, they are keeping a crew which was previously cleared to leave before this accident occurred and have been prisoners on the vessel since that day.

@@captglenn100 Maritime law is different than immigration law. They are not prisoners, yet. Don't feel bad for them, this is their fault. They took down a bridge, and killed 6 people. It's not an accident. The NTSB report says the ship blacked out ten hours prior, they jerry rigged the electronics and lied to the harbor pilot about the ships seaworthiness.

Container ships are a hazard to navigation. Over 12,000 containers are lost at sea every year. Ship owners need to be required to pay 100,000 dollars for every container lost

I think the process was too slow. This is supposed to be the United States of America. All of our resources were not put to good use. Two months took too long. There should have been 3 different teams working around the clock to rescue those who perished in addition to cutting the collapse bridge in sections. Just my thoughts. Mobilize America.

The U.S. needs to seize all of this shipping companies ships and freeze all their bank accounts and use the proceeds from the sale of those assets to cover all costs associated with the salvage and rebuilding of the bridge. I don’t want American Tax Dollars used to cover the cost of this company’s and crew’s negligence.

The ship owner is Singapore-based Grace Ocean Private Ltd. *The US cannot seize assets in a foreign country*. There are well-understood maritime agreements about responsibility for damage caused by ships, and they'll be arguing about it for a decade.
