Cargo Trailer Camper Conversion - Insulation

How to video for installing foam panel insulation in our cargo conversion camper. I ended up using a single layer of R-5 foam on the walls and ceiling. We live in Florida and the R-5 is plenty to keep us cool in the summer and warm in the (Florida) winter. We run a 110v 9000 BTU mini split for A/C and heat.

The guy up the road on bought one.... He put two sets of bunk beds in it. Refrigerator microwave air conditioner. He has three Mexican girls living in it. They go off grid every weekend and sometimes for a week or two.... He's a very happy man.... !!!

Nice Job.... I am in the process of converting an 8x16 v-nose cargo trailer into an RV and Mobile Sign Shop. I am just starting the walls and cabinet construction. I just sold a 15-passenger shuttle bus that I lived in for 3 years and traveled out west during the winters. I had to sell the shuttle bus because I purchased a large format color printer to make contour cut decals/stickers, koozies, t-shirts, magnetics, banners, mousepads, etc. The large format color printer would have taken up a lot of storage space so I needed to get something bigger. I did a complete conversion series on the shuttle bus from the ground up and now am doing a new series on the cargo trailer conversion. They are on my YT channel.

Why would you do it that way? You would have a thermal bridge the entire length of the rib (strap). If you ran the strips horizontally, there would be much less contact. Or better yet, just put a full XPS sheet over the straps than screw the plywood back on over it with longer screws. NO thermal bridging (or very little).

Table saw to cut that insulation would have saved you a ton of time and given you a factory smooth edge.

Good idea. I would have used 1.5 inch to start with and just fir out the ribs 1/2 ". Makes 1 installation of insulation instead of 2. It will be covered by wall board anyway.

What size is your trailer and how many sheets did it take?

The trailer is 7'x14' with 7' ceiling. I used 8 sheets.
