I'm working in a port zone in Brazil , and now I know how twistlocks really work. I didn't know that there are different positions of twistlocks on contêineres. This video was very useful for me, thanks a lot.

Good stuff can't believe I've never seen a single one of these on all the ships I've worked on but the fact you need a special tool to unlock them is ridiculous
@brunogoullart36488 жыл бұрын

The only problem with this twistlock they have alot of moving part and twistlock don't get maintenance and after 3 year they don't work
@jesserai2 жыл бұрын
You still run into problems with these, especially when the guts get blown out and they aren't springy anymore (you see it slot with these types especially the floor stackers)

if I worked on the sea, I'd worry if they'd auto unlock in particulally rough weather.

this is to be ensured by d crew before vessel sailing any port .. not at mid sea..

They auto-unlock? So what prevents that from happening at sea??
@mohamadsyafiqrohazat3 жыл бұрын
Only unlock whenever it get pulled.. not right or left
@privateassman88393 жыл бұрын
They unlock when pulled straight up only

But how are the twistlocks on the sides of the containers that are cramped up to other containers operated? I don't see enough space there to lock or unlock them.
@kravstema62872 жыл бұрын
They use a different type of cone for places that are pinched together, they are called banana cones, these type don’t lock like twist locks, but hold it in place from side to side movement like stackers on 20’s

I'm a lasher ship is only 4 year old and its my worst nightmare
@jesterflight85937 жыл бұрын
This is why you don't see countless pics if containers, at the shipping docks with the ship about to sink, because the containers are falling off the ship from both sides.
@NT-ds8ic3 жыл бұрын
Does this mean that whenever the containers are to be loaded/unloaded at a bay from/on the container ship, people that work there have to unlock the containers from each other manually to be lifted up by the crane? And also be locked manually when the containers are beeing loaded on to the ship from the crane? Is there any automatically open twist lock when unloading? Or always necessary to disengage the twist lock manually?

Yes, this is my job and it is terrible, after about three months the twist locks dry up and they are impossible to unlock….how does the twist lock know what height it’s at….rubbish

I think cma rank number one with the thick wire twistlock
@bessynunez69796 жыл бұрын
I'm a laser they are new and they are allready falling apart and some times they are in open mode and they remain lock . When use as deck shoes don't open when loading container. Maybe just bad quality materials
@bessynunez69796 жыл бұрын
But compare to cma twislock that you have to pull 3 times to get them open and as soon they lay the spreader they lock not a bad job maerks has the best twislock. Like maerks albert. Maersk lirquen. Adrian .

Working at container terminal, didn't see worse idea than these type MacGregor locks. Time consuming and waisting ,unsafe ispecialy when need pulling over at 5 high position with longer poles. That is step back not forward.
@vanslp90143 жыл бұрын
True.. very time consuming when start loading at the top hatch cover.. especially trying to load 20ft container..

Always wonder: Why aren't containers loaded athwartship instead of fore and aft?
@tomfinley42032 жыл бұрын
Well one simple reason is trucks and trains arrive quayside parallel to the ship. It would save considerable time - and is less dangerous - not having to turn every container 90° on the trip down. I've wondered if the containers might be more stable at sea if turned 90° from port and starboard. Stack them a few rows this way at the bow and stern and the whole load could be boxed in better, it appears to me anyway.

5th minute of this video is showing container chassis/frame for twist lock installation; I am asking if anyone can help me to find supplier who can provide same.

I think the person who design twistlock should go to a pear the ship is 5 years old and see how they work .cma also make bad twistlock

This is the worst twistlock to work with when loading.
